My personal favorite is Godzilla vs Monster Zero. It's alot better than Ghidrah: the Three Headed Monster. Great plot, great effects, great acting. A genuine gem all around.

Hmmm -- tough choice -- I'd say either King Kong vs. Godzilla -- or Godzilla vs. The Thing -- maybe even both the showa Mechagodzilla films. I cannot decide, for there are many ones I enjoy.

My pick for the best movie of the Showa series, next to the original of course , would also have to be G' vs The Thing. I definitely prefer the more "serious" entries of the Godzilla films, [But I'll always watch the others for fun! ] and I think that this one was pretty much the last such effort made for the Showa series. Not to mention that, for it's time and method [i.e. suitmation], the monster action was pretty well done!

I'd say the best is probably Godzilla vs. The Thing, but too much talk goes on about that one, so I figure I'll just put in a good word for King Kong vs. Godzilla, Ghidorah, The Three Headed Monster and Godzilla's Revenge, three movies that I'm really fond of for one reason or another.

Godzilla vs. the Thing, Monster Zero, Destroy All Monsters, Godzilla vs. the Smog Monster, and The Terror of Godzilla.

Godzilla Vs. The Thing..best Godzilla in the showa era but thats my opinion.

Id have to go with Terror of MechaGodzilla or Godzilla vs. Mothra.

Godzilla vs. The Thing or King Kong vs. Godzilla hands down. If you ask me, these are the best kaiju films ever made. Mothra and the last Mechagodzilla films (of the showa era) come close to.

I would have to say Ghidorah, The Three Headed Monster is one of the best. You have Godzilla, Rodan, Mothra and of course King Ghidorah all in the same movie for the 1st time every.

The best group of Showa films was what I like to refer to as the wonderful "Mothra, Rodan, King Ghidorah trilogy" in "GvstheThing, Ghidrah the 3 headed Dragon, and GvsMonster Zero". Those films were wonderfully tied together. GvstheThing was one of the best filmed G films ever, Ghidrah the 3 headed Dragon was one of the most fun G films, introduced what would become Godzilla's worst enemy and most powerful foe in KG, and had one of the best climatic monster fights ever. GvsMonster Zero continued the fun and spirit of those 2 films and also introduced the "aliens invading earth" angle, which at the time was a new idea for a G film before it got overdone to death in later films. However, it fell short of GvstheThing and Ghidrah because of that rediculous Godzilla shimy dance, but it made up for it with spectacular destruction and battle scenes along with one of the most controversial battles at the end (did GandR really win? Or was it KG? The most debated battle after the Kong/Godzilla battle). No G films since have matched the height of fun, adventure, and spectacle of those 3 films....
