Alrighty, two cents time.

Hells yeah to the reptilian look. The view of the front of his face is a little off in the eyes compared to how some other suits look, but in a pretty big way it goes quite well with the somewhat zany characterization in the movie itself, if not just simply accentuating the form of a prehistoric beasty! Big, dumb and lumbering.... dangerous...awesome!!

Three toes!?! No ears?! There was a time that I would pine over such things! Now I don't even notice or mind. These features look just like they should on that suit. I will admit to checking out the rather hybrid looking '55/'62 G constructed for American movie makers, and pondering what could have been....

http://www.kaijukits.com/library/tfacto ... 55/g55.htm

Back to the mighty '62! Big crazy long claws and spikey teeth, CRAZY fat knees... all good as can be, and I like the overall thickness for the same reasons I like the slenderness in the '64 suit: it just looks cool from so many angles (unlike the '55 and yes, the '54 at times).

Just as Goji looks like a brute, powerfully built and bruising for a fight, this suit is also just sooooo distinct in design!! A standout, if you will, like the '54/'55 "primitives", '84 "what's worked the best" job,or '02 GMK "re-imagined roots". Haruo Nakajima was quite fluid in this suit and got a lot out of it. When he's playin the part, we are right there with him!!

That said, I'm no huge fan of this flick for much beyond its historical worth and I have a hard time giving a lot of love to the more anthropomorphic portrayals of Goji, but this suit forgives the misgivings that I have for the film, even if not so much for clownzilla!

It's a thing of rare symmetry that I like to comb my eyes over whenever some representation of it is around.

Interesting take. What's your favorite suit, Reaper G?

I have a strange love-hate relationship with this suit. I think the design is great, and some of my favorite Godzilla toys in my collection are Kin-Goji figures. But on film something about the suit doesn't work for me. Maybe it's the head-on shots or the fact that the suit just incredibly baggy the legs never retain a defined shape. I've seen photos where the knees appear to bend inwards because the legs are just so big and loose.

Also, King Kong vs Godzilla is not even close to being my favorite Godzilla movie, so that works against the suit too.

being the first Godzilla movie I ever saw... and hence, the first Godzilla I ever saw, I am very fond of this look for Godzilla. in the 70s in this country this was THE Godzilla look that most people thought of, due to the models that were available at the time.

pretty much the only Godzilla "toys" available.

This is certainly my favorite Godzilla design, if not only for it's bulkiness and overall bad ass appearance. The 64' design DID (sort of) retain the awesome claws from this Godzilla, but after that, we never really saw them again in the later Showa designs.

Sure, I'll agree he does look rather "frog like" from a close up, frontal view, but from practically every other angle it screams awesome. I really wish the suit had had another staring role, but it was nice to see it pop up occasionally in promotional/publicity stills.

Overall, King King vs. Godzilla isn't one of the better G films out there, but it's legendary status and the fact that the movie is a riot really help it in the long run. Also, the fantastic Godzilla design outweigh's Kong's atrocious appearance, in my opinion.
