Godzilla 1964 appreciation thread

So just like my thread on the 1968 Godzilla, this one is for talking about Godzilla as he appears in Mothra vs Godzilla, or Ghidrah, the Three-Headed Monster if you wish.

After the 1968 version, this is my favorite Godzilla suit. This thing is just perfection. He looks so damn badass and nasty and the combination of the suit, Ifukube's music and fantastic editing and matte shots really make this Godzilla seem threatening and alive during his initial rampage on Nagoya.

Like I said, the '68 suit is my favorite, but this one is definitely one of the most iconic, and definitely a Tsuburaya masterpiece.

You have good taste, Legion!!!!!!

However, this suit is by far my most favorite over them all!!!!!!!! Sure, some people nowadays will say "GMK! GMK!" :puke:

While I love GMK and it is among my favs, its nowhere near this suit! Especially in Mothra vs. Godzilla! I always pop the DVD in and watch the Big-G making Nagoya into ruin while Ifukube-sama's beautiful and powerful music playing in the background, truly amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Like you said, Legion, this suit just looks so badass and BRUTAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This suit has to be the most terrifying and badass suit ever!

As I've said before and to quote Winston Churchill, Mothra vs. Godzilla was the series's finest hour.

As for the suit, it is definitely at the top of the list in terms of G-suits used in the series. At times, I hope that the design could be used as the immortal design by which people recognize Godzilla.

A beautiful suit and the perfect Godzilla movie. As far as Showa goes, I'd probably place this suit half a mark under the '62 (as canofhumdingers mentioned, that odd wobbly/damaged lip bothered me too) and consider them both just a step up from the '54 original.

BEST SUIT EVER.

I hope they remake this suit for future films.

Not intending to stir things up here, Just figured I should add my two cents.

IMO, This suit looks pretty good in Stills and in that slo-mo scene with the head appearing over the hill and a couple others, but I'm sorry to say many of the action sequences fall pretty short for me.

My personal faves have got to be 1954, 1955, 1968, 1975, 1989 & GMK. (In order of years, not preference)

Each of these also has down points.
GMK-Goji's eyes, for example..

I have to agree after watching the film again...looks great in stills (especially Legion's avatar) but I'm not so hot on it in the actual film....so my top 3 favorite suits still holds..the 54, 62, and 84 suits...

Definitely one of the best Godzilla suits of all time. Perfect form, menacing face, cold eyes and great mobility. It shines on the screen in Mothra vs. Godzilla no matter what angle it's shot from.

The suit looks great in Ghidorah too with the changed head, visible tongue and all. I've always loved this one shot of Godzilla turning around and roaring when he sees Rodan coming toward him, as the camera tilts slightly upward.
