I have a question about this movie.
OK, there are tons of questions to ask about this movie and its general weirdness, but I have one specific one regarding the characters.
Yukio & Miki, what is the tie they have to the Yano family? As a kid, I thought he was the older brother of Ken, but that is not the case. Why does this teenage boy & his girlfriend hang around at the professor's house and babysit his kid? Who is the babysitter? Yukio or Miki.
I guess it is a Fonzie and The Cunninghams type of thing where he's just a young guy living near by and helps out with the parent like people from time to time, but it was never really explained in any version of the film I've seen.

The girl is his older sister and the guy is her boyfriend.

Godzilla vs. The Smog Monster is perhaps the easy-breeziest Godzilla movie of the entire series! I grinned from ear-to-ear, from start-to-finish, basking in its pure, unadulterated "grooviness"! "HEE-dorah" rocks!

That does sound horrifying. Especially having hundred something pounds of Hedorah on you. The visuals though, look like something out of Monty Python..

The only Godzilla movie that I know of where the child actor (Hiroyuke Kawase) returns to star in another Godzilla movie.
(Godzilla vs. Megalon) I didn't watch this movie until it was on TV in the late 70s, but I still love the psychedelic, groovy feel to it that defined the 1970s. Even in a Godzilla movie.
Hedorah itself is an underrated, awesome monster.

This and Destroy All Monsters were the last two Showa films I watched. One failed to live up to the hype, and the other exceeded it well beyond imagining.

The next time you watch Hedorah, watch this part and tell me how cool (or not cool) it is to see Hedorah do that cool "Hedorah Walk." I wish I could gif that scene.
