Monster Zero x SciFi Japan - Archive Only

Everyone has their own personal favorites, but I have no reservations in stating that, in my opinion, this is the best Godzilla film of all time, bar-none. It's where everything finally just seemed to "click" and come together. What is there not to love about this film?

-You've got Godzilla's arch enemy and most powerful foe in King Ghidorah. For the first time in the series, an overwhelming opponent was created for Godzilla that actually gave the viewer some doubt as to whether Godzilla could beat him or not. Other than MechaGodzilla and perhaps Hedorah and Gigan, no other foe comes close to King Ghidorah-showa era (before they wimped him down in the heisei series and as KINO in GMK).

- You've got Akiko Wakabayashi, a very underrated hottie....sorry Kumi Mizuno fans, but I think Akiko Wakabayashi is the hottest girl of the showa era kaiju films (for the doubters, also check her out in You Only Live Twice, What's Up Tiger Lily, and Dogora :drool: ). Oh yeah, the always overlooked Yuriko Hoshi isn't too bad either :th-up:


-You've got the awesome Mosu-Goji suit back for another round (though the eyes don't look quite as good this time around).

-You've got Rodan back, and it's one of his best film roles in a G film (and please, I am sooooo tired of the whining about his suit in this film....yeah, it's definitely not his best suit, but character-wise, Rodan really shined in this film. Get over the imperfect suit already folks Rodan simply rocks in this film! :rockon: ).

-You've got Mothra and the Peanuts, complete with a unique, alternative Mothra song that was only sung in this film.

-One of Akira Ifukube's best scores ever! :calvin:

-Is a very rare example of a showa film attempting some real form of continuity (and unlike the Heisei films, it doesn't beat the viewer over the head with it when it tries to tie the films together). This film ties in nicely with its predecessor GvstheThing and GvsMonster Zero, and formed what I like to refer to as the "Godzilla/Rodan/Mothra/King Ghidorah Trilogy". I think these 3 series of films are among the best of the series and represented a peak of sorts for TOHO during this era.

I could go on and on and on about this masterpiece. Some may care to disagree and it may not be as well polished as GvstheThing, but imo, this is the quintessential Godzilla film. :th-up:
