Love it, love it, LOVE IT! One of my favorites of the series, and easily the best-made G film of the '70s from a critical standpoint. After somewhat slinking away from the genre with the too-little-to-work-with Godzilla's Revenge and Space Amoeba at the beginning of the decade, Terror of Mechagodzilla was a very welcome return to quality for Honda. It has excellent direction, a very engaging script, consistently interesting drama and plot development, likeable and developed characters, awesome monster battles, oddly endearing special effects work, and a GREAT new score by Ifukube. The film is an absolute delight to watch in every way.
Seeing the film uncut, in crisp-quality widescreen, and in the original Japanese language is the only way to watch this flick. Those ugly, edited, dubbed, old pan-and-scan prints don't do the film justice.
