I suppose my preference for '70's Godzilla movies over '60's is in part due to which ones I saw as a little kid.
"Sentimental movie reviews"
I got the see "Godzilla on Monster Island" in the theater when I was young.
Never saw Gigan, Ghidorah or Anguirus prior.
Caught Megalon the first time when I was first "Allowed" to stay up late Friday & Saturdays. (had to sneak out to the living room after they'd gone to bed before that) so that was kind of a treat for Young Fox. (Usually pretty sleepy watching it, too.. so that factors in.
Mechagodzilla was another Friday night Late late monster movie.
Didn't see MOST of the '60's movies until.. 94 or so.
So most of those were viewed with not so sentimental eyes.
Terror of MechaGodzilla was a different story..
Saw that on in 95 and it was a Surprise.. It simply had not existed prior.
Caught part of it on TV (Scene with Titanosaurus Solo city stomping) & said "Hey, cool.. a Monster Movie. Looks lots better done than Zarkorr.. wonder if it's made by the same guys?"
Then Mechagodzilla came into view and I Said "
!"

Markers were for tombstones."
