Yes to Ebirah and DAM.

I don't know about Son but considering that Toho was willing to follow it up with the big-budget DAM, then I would imagine it must have done well.

Could be worse, guys: You'd have superhero fans who think superheroes exist in a vacuum! It's happening to not only tokusatsu (the less said about that, the better), but comic-books, too! I mean, nobody knows Archie, Mickey Mouse or Looney Tunes even exist! It's all superheroes from DC or Marvel! (And few even care about graphic novels.)

Vacuums indeed. I'm going to use one to clean out ignorance from the carpet known as the medium.

But seriously, as August discussed, there is no one absolute cause to Godzilla's box-office declines. Some fans already love to make such improbable things like, "Godzilla was messed up and turned into a kids' hero, and that's the only reason why the movies failed!" And there, the vacuum point has been proved. In the case of the 70s films, it's not that the movies were bad, the kids still loved 'em! And the toys were selling like crazy! You have to look outside the Toho Tokusatsu universe to know what happened.

It's like thinking that comics begin and end with DC or Marvel. What would happen if either company burned down tomorrow?
