I think the body of the "Jiras" suit is actually the
Mosu-Goji suit with the
Daisenso-Goji suit's head with the frill attached where both connect. If I'm not mistaken, this was actually used in
G vs. Sea Monster during the second underwater battle scene with Ebirah when Godzilla rises up to surface and Ebirah's claw knocks him back down (resulting in the head to come off). Just look at the red around the mouth and the 2nd back plate as Godzilla rises up just before DECAPITATION!
When I saw this while growing up, I always thought it looked strange, but when I learned about the suit history and the Ultraman vs. Jiras business, it all clicked. "Ahhh, I see."
BUT........
When I finally watched the Ultraman/Jiras battle, something occured to me. Was this THE actual
Daisenso head, OR was there a different head made that was
cast from the same mold, know what I mean? Because from certain angles, it looks like the same head, BUT from other views, the mouth looks somewhat wider. I really notice it from the
G vs. Sea Monster scene.
I wanted to bring this up in the Ultraman forum, but since this was up, I thought I'd jump into here with this inquiry. Has anyone else noticed this? Can anyone set me straight? Thanks to anybody, or everybody!
