Gojira is a better movie, but it'll never get the respect it deserves our be put in the same status as the first King Kong.

...but don't feel bad. A lot of great stuff is underapreciated, but as long as it is good there will always be a following for it.

I think GOJIRA is easily the better film in terms of acting, cinematography, direction, etc. But entertainment wise, I dunno, it's a toss-up. Both are excellent films in different ways, it's too hard for me to choose which I like more.

And I think that the majority of average filmgoers, after watching both back-to-back, would agree with me.

Actually all three films mentioned above are good. Godzilla gets the edge as far as the actual storyline and how it is presented.

King Kong and Godzilla are a perfect tie. And that's the way it should be!

And Kong still has a lot of symbolism about human nature and male/female relationships, etc. so its not fair to say its just entertainment and nothing else.

In my opinion, these films shouldn't even be compared and they should share the throne of Best Monster Movie (along with the first 2 Universal Frankensteins)... all of those are perfect monster films and masterpieces of cinema and shouldn't be compared... ever.

I think comparing these films is practically a sin. But that's just me.

I'm glad I'vew got some back up here! I don't want to be mistaken as to saying Godzilla is a better monster than Kong or vice versa. I am saying Gojira is a better movie than Kong and the two monsters are equally iconic in my mind.
