Man. Some of you guys are really in your own twisted little world.
I mean really, really out there.
There was a show on the Sci-fi channel just last week: "The Sci-fi boys"
Famous directors and effects people commenting on the fact that CGI is doing things they could only dream of doing with animatronics and puppets.
This is a fact boys. Every single effects artist agrees. No matter how great a suit looks. It can never move like a CGI character.
It's here to stay. The best people in the industry have actual working brains and are smart enough to recognise(and publicly state on camera) they've been out done.
They aren't living in their own fantasy world where only what they make is the right way to do things.
Nobody is saying. You know what this movie needs? More Stop Motion.
Nobody worth their salt is saying screw CGI. lets use a guy in a suit for the entire movie.
Post this next sentence on your monitor and read it until you get it:
There is no mandate that states that CGI has to be perfectly realistic all of the time. If someone doesn't have the budget for top notch CGI. It's just as valid to use cheap CGI as it is to use cheap rubber suits or puppets.
You suit worshippers have self imposed that nutty rule on CGI because the technology has made the suits look even dumber than stop motion did. And you can't deal with it.
The next person who says something as completely insane as "CGI killed special effects". Gets a free ride to the looney bin by the effects artist of their choice.
I'm sure they're just as scared of the thought of you running around loose as I am.
