Perhaps you may be confusing Forry with Henry Saperstein, who did have a hand in getting Hollywood to make a Godzilla movie.

I think ilovebaragon is definitely confusing Ackerman with Saperstein.

Henry Saperstein's impact on the Godzilla series was tremendous and undeniable, but I certainly wouldn't say he's THE reason for Godzilla's fame in America. Godzilla already had two major hits in the US with GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS and KING KONG VS GODZILLA before Saperstein had anything to do with Toho.

Saperstein was the one that enabled the Hanna-Barbera cartoon to be made, right? Yeah, He was a good guy. Very influential in Toho's fantasy film break-through in the west. He was responsible, in one way or another, for the release of some of the best movies in the series (Godzilla vs. The Thing, Monster Zero, Frankenstein Conquers The World, War of the Gargantuas, Godzilla's Revenge and Terror of Mechagodzilla), so yeah. Big-ups to Henry G.

He shipped Nick Adams to Japan to be in "Monster Zero", perhaps the awesomest movie ever!... so I like the guy.
