My favorite Fukuda G film is
Godzilla Vs Gigan-there are some silly elements in this movie to be sure, e. g. the "word balloons" between G and Angilas-also, the aliens in this movie ain't the brightest of light bulbs

but I have always preferred G films with lots of explosions and pyrotechnics. The
oil refinery scene where G and Angilas first make landfall to take on KG and Gigan is a thrill for me. Honorable mention: Godzilla Vs MechaGodzilla(1974)

"Sea Monster" for me. I think it holds together better than any of his others and, as Giganfan said, it would be fine without the monsters. It's a great adventure story. It's one of my favorites of the bunch, even though "Son" and "Mechagodzilla" trail it very closely.

For sheer fun, I'd definately have to say Mechagodzilla! It's tied with the 2002 version as my favorite in the entire series!
Runner up for me: Godzilla Vs. Gigan. It's the one of the only Godzilla films where I almost enjoy the humans more than the monsters!

Seeing as the poll is for which one is my personal favorite, I simply must go with Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla. Fun as hell, one of the first Godzilla movies I ever saw way back when, and still one of my absolute favorites to this day. Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster would come in a very close second place, but all five of these films rank high on my enjoyment list really.

Let's see, my number two Fukuda film of the Godzilla series would probably be GODZILLA VS. THE SEA MONSTER. Perhaps the most underrated out of all the Godzilla movies, if you ask me. It has a great cast that drives the movie (atleast until Godzilla shows up), a fine score by Masaru Sato and a believable new opponent in Ebirah. The battles between the two monsters are unforgettable. It's been said many times that if you take out all of the monsters, you would still have a pretty decent movie. I think that's a tribute to not only Shinichi Sekizawa's screenplay, but Fukuda-san's fresh and dynamic directing. To this day, he is only second to Ishiro Honda as the best director of the Godzilla movies.
The five series movies directed by Jun Fukuda, when ranked against one another (and in my own personal opinion) would go something like this:
GODZILLA VS. GIGAN
GODZILLA VS. THE SEA MONSTER
SON OF GODZILLA (you could probably eliminate the kaiju from this film as well, and still come out good in the end)
GODZILLA VS. MECHAGODZILLA (this movie represents, atleast to me, what a Jun Fukuda film looks like)
GODZILLA VS. MEGALON (cheap, juvenile and lacking in production values, but is still fun to watch; there's lots of potential in the general story)

I always loved the campy Showa era. and Fukuda was the best director of those times. I'd have to give the nod to Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla.

MechaGodzilla all the way, for me. Though I like Sea Monster and Son of well enough, I actually think MechaGodzilla is one of the series' best.

Damn, Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla really ran away with this one, didn't it? I wouls have thought that Sea Monster was the odds-on favorite, or atleast drew a close race. Well, I'm glad that the poll wasn't too lop-sided. Each one of Jun Fukuda's Godzilla films were well-represented.
