Sometimes I think Gojira came across as too small. There were some scenes in which he couldn't have been more than eighty feet tall, such as his battle with the tanks.

It's not that important for the scales to not be consistent. I would think the priority would be using whatever scale is necessary to make a scene look the best. Using a smaller scaled monster allows the sets to be more detailed.

These types of films weren't meant to be parsed in such detail. The only thing that matters is that kaiju are the biggest, strongest, and meanest monsters depicted in movies.

I've always considered height "discrepancies"(for lack of a better word) in Godzilla and other kaiju films just a minor annoyance, at the worst. I don't think they seriously detract, IMO, from any of the older Godzilla movies. That's my take. :)
