This is a difficult and complex question. I have to say that Godzilla's Revenge is a better FILM, and Megalon is a better GODZILLA FILM.

The thing about 'G's Revenge' it's never really meant as a companion to the other films, Toho cooked it up quick for their "Champion Festival" (That's what it was done for right ?). The film never tries to pretend to be a film like any that came before it, it's a simple tale about Ichiro's problems. Nothing more. The film doesn't even realistically try to pretend like the stock footage is new. (Which cannot be said for Megalon.) As a Godzilla film, the film reeks. And I must admit I don't like it too much myself. But on it's own merits, I think the film stands alone better then Megalon.

With that said, Megalon, from a quality standpoint, is a big pile of dog crap. However it's dog crap that I enjoy a lot. I'd probably choose to watch it over G's Revenge most of the time. It follows your standard Godzilla plot to the tee, and you know what to expect. It's a better Godzilla film, simply for the fact that I think it's hard to call 'G's Revenge' a real G film, and the monster fights are new, and more fun.

I wouldn't say it's better than that many films. But I'll take it over Space Godzilla and GRA any day of the week. Those two films are cures for insomnia if there ever were any.

lol at plyometrics. No way in hell is G's revenge better than all those films unless youre high and watching it for laughs. This film is just so ridiculous at times.
I guess you could say that alot of the showa films have soul. But if youre looking for a deep meaningful message even GvsHedorah is better than this, and it doesnt have to sacrifice cool new action scenes to do it. I mean I guess G's revenge was sort of well done for what it was trying to accomplish, to teach kids the importance of being strong and brave so they can accomplish alot, and not scared and anti-social or theyll get bullied. But there's deeper Godzilla films than that even if you are just ranking them on how meaningful you think they are.
Not that I dislike Godzilla's revenge. Just I dont see how as far as kaiju eiga go someone could rank it over GvsB, ToMG, G85, GxM, and GvH especially. I mean its last on my list though the rest I might understand. But what youre saying is to me like someone saying Super Monster Gamera is a better film than every film in the Gamera trilogy.

I went with Godzilla v.s. Megalon...I don't really have a reason as to why, except that the only part of Godzilla's Revenge I cared for was the battle between Minya, Gabera, and Godzilla.

If you want to laugh, watch "Godzilla vs. Megalon". If you want to laugh and THINK and FEEL, watch "Godzilla's Revenge" AND "Godzilla vs. The Smog Monster". 'Nuff said.

"Godzilla vs. Megalon" is not one of my favorites, but it is not the worst G-film ever. And I agree with what Megaloman said earlier that "Revenge" is far better than some (or all) of the 90s G films. Because of it's unique features, Gabra was one of the coolest monsters I ever saw. I can't say the same thing about Space Godzilla.

Heck, in another thread, someone posted pics of Godzilla and Ghidrah from "Pee-wee's Big Adventure". I'd rather see those few scenes than "G. vs. Space Godzilla" in its entirety!
