Let's see now...

Godzilla
Matango
Mothra
Godzilla vs. The Thing
Atragon
Space Monster Dogora
Battle In Outer Space
Destroy All Monsters
The Mysterians
Gorath
Godzilla's Revenge

...in that order, too. The last one, not necessarily Honda's BEST movie, but one of HONDA'S best movies, I think. Indeed, a tough one to mull over.

As far as best Godzilla movie is concerned, that's a toss-up between Godzilla King of the Monsters! and Godzilla vs. The Thing, with Monster Zero and Destroy All Monsters being close runners-up. The Thing is a more polished movie, technically, while the original Godzilla is told very straight-forward and direct. Which works perfect for that film, but by the time Godzilla vs. The Thing came around, Honda was a much better director, therefore everything hereafter was more creative. Yeah, between those top two (two of the best in the entire sci-fi/fantasy genre), you could go both ways, because they're both made a bit different, and it just clicks for each of them.

Honda was simply the best. He never lost focus of new angles to the stories being depicted that each film conveyed. And, as much as some may not agree, "Godzilla's Revenge" is every bit as much a testament to his skills and the artist that he was. The film was truely (and still is) one of the better children's films of it's time.

All of them.

And I agree on Godzilla's Revenge. It's a better movie than everyone gives it credit for.
