The first real monster mash for Toho was a major success and one of the most wildly entertaining films in the series.

What I really like about this film is that it gave me my dream monster fight of Godzilla Vs. Rodan. True there was no winner, but seeing two of my all time favorites fighting each other was a real treat.

And how can you not love Ghidorah? He is one of the classic Godzilla foes for a reason and up to this point, he was easily the most visually striking monster Tohoi had created. Mixing Godzilla, Rodan, Mothra, & King Ghidorah all together was a real treat. If only it had been Adult Mothra in the mix, then we really would have had a true visual for the ages.

The monster fight scenes are spectacular, and you gotta love the monster sit down chat between Mothra, Godzilla, & Rodan. Its one of the funniest moments in the entire series but it was interesting to see human-esque traits in characters we always thought of as beasts.

The princess assassination subplot was interesting but felt like it could have been its own movie entirely. I felt like it didn't mesh too well with the real monster plot. I mean they had to turn her into a martial prophetess just to make it kind of sort of fit in with the monsters. But whatever, it wasn't that big of a deal, and it is memorable, I'll give it that.

This one is wickedly fun.

'Ghidorah, The Three Headed Monster was the first movie in which Godzilla became a hero monster. He may have started out as a villain, but he became a hero, when he fought a greater menage to Earth than he was. :D

Nah, if the filmmakers were genuine to the characters, I think "Godzilla vs. Rodan" would have been a very tooth-and-nail-style kaiju extravaganza. In a perfect world, it would be the "Samurai Warrior of the Sky" of the '56 original, and he'd be evenly matched with Godzilla. Perhaps there would even be two Rodans...

...if only, right?

I think when I said beam weapon I was thinking of a Godzilla vs. Rodan production in modern times. I think I was also being overly cynical because the 90s films were in the back of my mind.

Tokyo, a smoldering memorial to the unknown, an unknown which at this very moment still prevails and could at any time lash out with its terrible destruction anywhere else in the world.

Despite it's flaws, I've always felt that Ghidrah The Three Headed Monster is infinitely more enjoyable and fun to watch than any other Godzilla movie. But then again, I'm also the one who considers it my all-time favorite Godzilla flick, so...

I rewatched this one recently and I think it's great! :D

One of my favorite storylines. I've only got two small gripes which, unfortunately, are pretty distracting:

1. Rodan looks awful here. After the awesomeness of Rodan '56, the suit used here feels like a huge downgrade. The suit has this goofy bug-eyed look, and the puppet they used for closeups is just terrible. The only times Rodan looks good are long shots (he looks good in the shots where he's carrying Godzilla), but otherwise yuck. Easily the worst part about this movie, which is disappointing because I love Rodan and his role here.

2. The whole idea of the "monster conference" was just a bit TOO goofy for me, considering the rest of the movie. There had to be a better way of handling that, but I suspect goofiness was kind of the point.

Otherwise, I love this one! I have a hard time deciding whether I like this or Monster Zero better, it goes back and forth depending on which movie I saw last! ^_^()

I enjoy the movie but as always really resent the importance given to Mothra, with all the power of godzilla and the fighting spirit of Rodan it falls on Mothra to be the one to incapacitate the villain...Fail! (other than its fair that mothra save the day since she shamed the other 2 into helping).

To me the highlight of the film is godzilla vs Rodan, though it was a more "lighthearted" fight I still enjoyed it due to the idea of my 2 favorites fighting it out...that and its one of the last few times where Rodan is portrayed as being significantly formidable, on par with godzilla even.

I still prefer Monster Zero since it has grander spectacle (godzilla drawn out of his lake, outer space etc.) but cant fault its predecessor too much..

-Im going to my Wii and playing some destroy all monsters melee, heaven help whoever dare use the damn mothra airstrike...
