It's a really good change of pace film. No, the special effects aren't the best (a big come-down after the previous 4 films) but the pacing is excellent, the cast is believable and Sato's score fits the movie perfectly.

It's a very underrated movie. Get used to calling it Ebirah, Horror of the Deep though. You'll find out why when Sony releases this puppy on DVD later this year.
