I've never heard of two sequences being shot. I know that they asked Honda to look over the movie and help them pad it out though.

my favorite scene is where everyone is rocking out in the field and i think some are even playing electric guitar or something..regardless..someone must have brought a couple hundred feet of extension cord huh

The flying scene was to pad the film out? What I read was Banno got uncomftable with all the grim death and things being caused by Hedorah's polution. So Banno included the flying scene to lightin the mood.
