To those who are knocking "Destroy All Monsters", are you guys referring to the Internationally dubbed version or the AIP version or does it really matter? Personally, when I watch the AIP version, it is like watching a different movie altogether than that dubbed abomination that's out there.
Though I love the movie, my choice for overrated would have to be the first Godzilla film (Japanese and American version). I've heard some say that not only is it the best Godzilla movie, but also the best monster film ever and the best Japanese movie period.
Underrated? A three-way tie - G. vs. Sea Monster, Son of Godzilla and Godzilla's Revenge.

Most Overrated/Underrated Showa film

Overrated: While DAM is my favorite G film, it's admittedly the most overrated film. The combonation of the 11 monster roster, along with the fact that it was the "lost" Godzilla film for so long made it a film that was touted above all others for a long time. With that said, it's still near the top of the heap for the Showa films in my view. 3rd right behind Gvs.Mothra.
TOMG is also generally overrated I think as well. Although I make that conclusion based on the American version only, which is fairly hacked up, so I'm not willing to say that it's a fair conclusion on my part.
Most underrated: Hmm... Depends. King Kong vs. Godzilla is generally underrated because of the awful Kong suit, and annoying Americanization. SOG is underrated because of Minya and the Musukogoji suit. Revenge is touted as the worst in the series, and I think such assesment's are missing the point of Revenge as a modest kiddie flick that had to have stock footage put in the film to keep the budget down. And Hedorah is gnerally looked down upon to the downright WACKY feel of the film. I think you can make a great argument for any of these films.
