I could not be happier. These guys look amazing!

Mothra is in my opinion the biggest departure of any of them and still looks at least pretty good. I’m not in love but I’m not turned off either.

KG and Rodan are perfect.

Mothra's body shape is definitely based more on a real moth than on any prior Mothra design. I like how massive her wings are and it seems like a callback to the 1961 Mothra that was so much larger than the later Showa versions.

BTW, if the mods feel like this should be merged with the other thread, feel free to do that. The reason I didn't post in the other thread was because it says no spoilers and I wasn't sure if people consider knowing what the monsters look like is considered as spoilers.

I won't bother copy 'n' pasting my initial reactions from the "no spoilers" KotM thread, but yeah I love these designs. I love Rodan's lava-esque design elements, Ghidorah's wings and the fact that Mothra looks more insectile than usual. Hers is certainly the most radical redesign, but I dig it. As someone said on a comments section I saw, it seems as though it's in part to make her more capable of combat, with those large pincer-like front legs.

And damn, seeing those close-ups of Rodan and Ghidorah's heads only makes me like them even more. I mean just damn! I have got to get me some of those!

I like that King Ghidorah's wings have the 'fingers' extending both from the 'hand' portion (like a bat) but also from the armpit like in his traditional design.

I couldn't be happier with the new designs, King Ghidorah and Rodan look absolutely bad-ass. Love the more insect look for Mothra too!!

Assuming that the 2019 Godzilla figure is even close to the same size as the 2014 one, that King Ghidorah is absolutely massive. I'm going to be dropping a lot of money this Spring. And trying to clear up a lot of shelf space.

I wonder how NECA's figures will compare?

King Ghidorah is the kaiju that I have been most excited to see in a big-budget, Hollywood sequel/reboot ever since they announced his inclusion in this movie. Ultimately, the fact that Legendary decided to go with "the Big 4", insofar as I'm concerned, for their Godzilla sequel is what makes me most happy. And even though I am a Rodan fan (and think they did an AWESOME job with his new look), KING GHIDORAH is the ONE kaiju in all of Japanese kaiju-dom that they absolutely, positively COULD NOT afford to mess up. I mean, would you want to see The Joker in an orange suit, with Ronald McDonald clown make-up in the next Batman movie (or The Joker-origin movie, for that matter, which IMHO, is totally unnecessary)?

So, with that being said, Godzilla's arch-nemesis was the one that I was most worried about...and based on the new design, I believe they ABSOLUTELY NAILED IT! He's gold, he's got huge wings, long horns, looks fierce and purely maniacal/evil...IT'S KING FRIGGIN' GHIDORAH!!!!!!

I'll reserve my ultimate judgement for the film itself, and speak at-length about Rodan (BAD-A**!!!) and Mothra (Meh' I can work with it) in later posts, but for now, I'm just gonna bask in the golden, hell-fiery glow of the "Extinction-Level-Event" that so far, looks like the King Ghidorah that we all know and love (they can always fall on their faces with the music, roar, lightning breath, etc. heaven-forbid), and I am doubly-excited, as a result, because based on the footage we've seen so far, it looks like KG is gonna bring the pain!!!

(On a somewhat related note, I find it hard to believe that, if Godzilla makes it through not one, but THREE of his most popular/powerful enemies/allies in this movie...King Kong does not seem like much of a threat, is what I'm getting at, if Goji has to run the gauntlet against Mothra, the creature with the best win-loss record against him, Rodan, "an H-Bomb with wings" that has smacked Godzilla around a few times in their history, and King Ghidorah, the walking, flying, cackling, lightning-shooting doomsday-bad-a** that he is. "Godzilla vs. Kong" is naturally a marquee-bonanza for Legendary, so I get why they are making it, but perhaps I'm just splitting hairs here, as an all-too-interested fanatic of giant monster movies (just so you know, I expect Kong to win in that movie, 'cuz, well...Kong=USA, Godzilla=Japan, whose making the movie? Just sayin...).

So what are early bets on pricing?

^Based on recent trends? I'd be surprised if any of them went under $75. Ghidorah HAS to be at least $100-120.

...So I'm pretty pleased with these designs. Rodan looks excellent; the lava aesthetics are impressively well-done and he doesn't look overly birdlike, which was my biggest concern. Ghidorah looks very formidable; I think I was worried that he would end up looking too much like an average Western dragon, but they seem to have found a good balance. Someone on Facebook pointed out that the heads actually look a lot like Death Ghidorah, which makes me feel better about them.
Mothra's the iffiest. I like the color scheme (though it seems a bit aggressive) and the wide wingspan, but shrinking the eyes and stretching the legs like that affects her "silhouette" a lot. I guess I'll have to see how she looks in motion.

Regarding Godzilla... I'm really liking the look of his feet in profile. Much improved over the stumpy elephant feet. Still wish his dorsal plates were more of a bone white to contrast the skin, but I can live with it.

The body and spikes look fine. The problem with the design has always been the head/mouth/snout. Needs to be longer.

Just realized that the only thing we have yet to see is Mothra in her larvae stage. Frankly, I don't want to see that until I see the movie, but I get a bad feeling we may see a glimpse of it in this second trailer.

Well we already saw a glimpse of it in the first one, so there's probably a good chance.
