how would you introduce King Ghidorah?

Good idea, introducing King Ghidorah on Marswouldn't necessarily need a big back story. As a twist on King Ghidorah being woken up in our solar system, in stead of Mars, how about the asteroid belt? It's long been theorized that the asteroid belt may once have been a planet, a short flash back sequence could show KG as the planet's destroyer.

I had an idea about using the trailers as mini-shorts to tell the provide some quick backstory to a movie (how Hank Henshaw is changed and sets him up to appear as Cyborg Superman right at the beginning of the movie instead of using movie time to fill out the initial details). With King Ghidorah, show him arriving on the planet and followed by a series of clips of him running roughshod over the planet, perhaps show that the planet had intelligent life and had developed a robot to combat KG and apparently kills him but not before KG inflicted fatal damage to the planet. In that respect, the trailer/mini-shorts could be an overt Mysterians reference (along the same lines as my thoughts on a theoretical solo King Ghidorah movie in the CAN WE GET SPINOFFS? thread)

Yeah one of things I've always wanted to see was Ghidorah destroy a world, yet other than blowing up a few buildings on Earth, we've never seen that. I want to see flashbacks of Ghidorah truly wiping out life from a planet. I want gravity bolts and gravity manipulation. I want people being driven mad due to Ghidorah's Psyionic capabilities. I want Ghidorah to truly be an apocalyptic destroyer.

Gotta love how Legendary is just like Toho in that they release a sub-par/poorly reviewed Godzilla flick then hit the panic button and roll out Mothra and Ghidorah!

But the "already here" angle seems to be the best way to go thus far.

I would introduce King Ghidorah as a fireball in space that morph into a 3 headed golden dragon, when he arrived on Earth.

I think making King Ghidorah a presence on Earth already messes with the characters intent of representing an existential threat (nuclear weapons) to the planet requiring nations (Earth's monsters) to team up to repel the threat. I would much rather that Legendary goes down the path in a similar vein to Spacegodzilla (blasphemy) of having NASA/nations track the arrival of a devastating meteor. This could tie nicely into the Fermi Paradox of why we are not seeing sufficient evidence of intelligent life in the Universe. I think it would be cool if there was a scientist or philosophy character who postulates that a monster like Ghidorah roams the universe looking for civilizations that become sufficiently advance (maybe detection of nuclear testing ) and it's one goal is to stamp out that civilization. I think that's a way to keep up the original intention of the character and be true to the series as a whole.

...probably what will happen is that King Ghidorah is a pre-historic dinosaur or dragon figure that inspired ancient dragon myths because of realism.

I STILL don't understand people thinking they went for uber-realism in G2014, or that they're going to do something like turn KG into a one-headed dragon or anything like that because of realism.

I guess it's POSSIBLE they turn KG into an Earth-born dragon, but Toho's already done that. Still, I think it's possible he'll be a space dragon.

I don't see how "alien" is any less realistic than "giant ancient bugs who have EMP blasts". That's where I just don't GET people saying "They'll go with Earth-creature because realism." They aren't going for REALISM in the monster origins. They just aren't. Now, if they go with Earth-born creature because they want to keep all their kaiju as ancient creatures who used to face off against one another in the long-long ago in this wild world they're building, then that's their choice and I probably won't love it, but I think it will be more for their own internal "consistency" than "realism"
