I'll add to the already pretty loud chorus that I do not want a crossover to happen. It would be a silly move on their part and would, in my opinion, be a disservice to both monsters. In this case, don't let them fight.

Just because LP is making a Kong movie doesn't mean there will be a Godzilla crossover in the works. I'm pretty sure Kong will be with Universal wereas Godzilla will remain under WB. As soon as I heard LP was making the Kong prequel I knew someone would assume that there might be a Godzilla vs Kong movie.

Pure speculation and click-bait. Though there isn't any reason it couldn't happen. This time 5 years ago the consesus was there would never be another American Godzilla film. And now...

Kong was under Godzilla when they hit the water. Godzilla was buried by an underwater landslide during an earthquake. Kong escaped.

The reason I'm not keen on this shared universe thing is that in Skull Island I want a traditionally Kong-sized Kong, but in a KK vs. G movie he'd have to be sized up, which is fine for that particular kind of movie but I wouldn't want it to be standard.

I just want the giant monster genre to flourish with multiple series growing concurrently as the years go by, not with everything just being a different piece of the same series. I love the thought of a new Godzilla series, a Pacific Rim series, and potentially a series of new King Kong films all coming in the next decade or so. I feel like turning all of that into the giant monster version of the Marvel Cinematic Universe would devalue the individual series.
