My thoughts on the size difference are something like the Skull Island film showing lots of skeletons of bigger apes throughout the island and someone commenting at some point that Kong is just a juvenile.

I think it's likely to be handled in that way.

Well I would not say that Kong 33, or 05 were "babies", (Kong Jr. was a juvenile after all, at about 2/3 size of Kong) but just full grown versions of a smaller sub-species in their respective fictional universe. I would be much happier with a different Kong that was in the same size-class as Godzilla, (as Toho did) rather than being artificially "super-sized" by humans, aliens, Pym particles, whatever... I could only see Kong turning out as some horrible mutant, and I don't want that.

If in this Universe Godzilla can be 105 meters tall and the MUTOs are of comparable size, then I don't see why Kong can't be this large. I don't know what the big deal is? These are sequels to the 33, 76 or even 05 films. They are their own universe. As long as Kong is a big ape that likes to climb things and has a soft spot for blondes then we're good.

I can see an 80 to 85 meter Kong that's some sort of mutate possibly. He's more agile than Godzilla so it's like a Thor-Hulk dichotomy.

Maybe they'll team up later in the film against other kaiju.

Seriously, I don't understand the obsession with Kong's size. It's not like this is the first time it's happened. They could go apeshit and just ignore continuity.

The Godzilla fandom seems pretty ambivalent about what might happen to Kong, as long as they get another Godzilla movie and this match-up happens. But I wonder what would happen if the Kong movie came first, and Kong was his usual size and Godzilla ended up being heavily changed to be able to fight him. I think the ape poo would probably hit the fan.

My guess is, Godzilla's size is more important due to the fact that he's supposed to be able to destroy cities; he has to be huge, or his character doesn't work. Kong's size can be increased somewhat and still be able to interact appropriately with humans, as he did in 1962. A 100-meter Kong would be ridiculous, though.

I wouldn't mind if Godzilla got shrunk down somewhat - down to 80 meters, for example - but that also depends on just how connected this potential film might be to Legendary's established G canon.

I think the problem is that, much like Man of Steel, Legendary has retroactively decided that Godzilla is the start of a shared universe. If they were really thinking of King Kong vs. Godzilla from the beginning, why'd they go about making Godzilla 100 meters tall? I know a lot of fans are excited but it all seems unnecessary to me.

The whole "eventually team up" bit has been rattling around in my head for a week or so, and then I remember Gareth saying several times that Destroy All Monsters is his favorite Godzilla film aside from '54 and apparently a big influence on Legendary's version.

Perhaps the third film isn't King Kong vs. Godzilla, but Destroy All Monsters? Destroy All Monsters with Kong as a participant? Godzilla, Kong, Mothra, Rodan, (maybe a Muto?) and King Ghidorah for the kaiju roster? I could see a Godzilla vs. Kong fight being a kind of mid-movie highlight, akin to the Godzilla vs. Rodan parts of Ghidorah, The Three-Headed Monster.

I was reading your post Lhb412, and the hilariously absurd image of a 20-25 meter tall King Kong riding 100 meter tall Godzilla into battle against King Ghidorah popped into my head.

I see King Kong Vs Godzilla kind of like Batman Vs Superman, where it's an intro into the cinematic universe. Afterwards it would be cool to see a Destroy All Monsters type movie where Godzilla, Kong, Mothra, Rodan (and whatever else) team up against King Ghidorah.

As for Kong's size in KK Vs Godzilla, I'm sure that Kong will be almost the same size as Godzilla. Can't really have it any other way.

Would LP/WB really make Skull Island its own movie(Kong a normal 20ft version) not related to G14 and just do a standalone KKvsG movie? Like a bonus film... Or is that to confusing for the general audience? Maybe have a Skull Island 1 & 2, finish off Godzilla trilogy, then have a King Kong vs Godzilla film not related to the Skull Island films and Edwards trilogy? Just a bonus film. LP could design a new Godzilla and play with the heights a little more.

Yes or no to that idea? I'd rather it be that way honestly, but don't get me wrong, I'm ok with SI being in Edwards world.

Godzilla Awakening did have that wih all of Monarch's trophies.
