Cartoon spin off?

What do you think are the chances of the new movie spawning a new cartoon spin-off?

While the last movie wasn't well liked by fans, the cartoon it spawned was popular and only canceled due to the poke/digi wars.

All I know is that I wouldn't mind a weekly dose of Godzilla.

Don't expect a cartoon series, guys. It doesn't work that way anymore. Only the big superhero franchises ever seem to get animated series these days. It's not the '90s anymore. Cartoon series aren't a given anymore when it comes to Hollywood blockbuster tie-ins.

Unless this movie does Avengers money (and it won't), I doubt a cartoon is coming.

Like Legion said, the days of everything under the sun getting an animated series died out in the late 90s.

I kinda hope no.

In my mind, cartoon spinoff these days means "bad CG"

I'd say no. I mean, I'd watch it, and I doubt Godzilla would be a crappy CG show...it's just not cost effective to try and render a city of screaming people in a CG show. Look at most of those shows and you'll find if the humans have any degree of realism there's very few of them inhabiting the world.

I also say no because we're not in the 90s wherein any successful-ish film got a spin-off cartoon. Now if this were a CG animated feature, sure, but it's not.

Yeah, i'd say the chances are slim and none. We'd have a better shot of getting a Godzilla anime or live action TV series in Japan than getting a TV series over here. US animation and the way they do business now has changed alot.

Unfortunately, it seems pretty unlikely...the last big budget movie to get a new cartoon spinoff was, I think, the most recent iteration of Transformers being vaguely inspired/tied-into the Michael Bay movies.

What's a bit more likely, although nowhere near guaranteed, is a tie-in direct-to-video Animated Anthology (like The Animatrix or Batman: Gotham Knights) or an Animated Movie (like Deadspace: Downfall or the animated Hellboy movies). I'm leaning toward the anthology being a possibility considering it was done for Legendary's Batman films, and I think that would be AWESOME. 8)

Yeah, I wish it was that simple, but those days are gone.

I would not want to see a cartoon Godzilla Spin-Off, for a few reasons; but mainly because of this simple fact, Godzilla and Cartoons don't mix. It would take a skilled cartoonist to change that.

I would prefer some straight to DVD/Blu-ray animated films that feature different stories where Godzilla may not even be the main character. You know, like Godzilla sets events in motion that cause Anguirus to fight Rodan or Biollante to fight Hedorah or some jazz like that. The Godzilla universe is too huge to focus on just Godzilla in my opinion. I think the IDW Godzilla Legends series was awesome and I'd like more stuff like that but then again I'm just a fan with delusions.
