the first post supposes "why does it have to be 100 million bucks?" the new movie's budget is going to be like 150 mill...

I'm just blown away that it's been that long since I made that thread. Plus the amazing revelation a few days later. The timing of that thread was impeccable.

I believe Edwards stated $160 million but who's counting?

I thought there was talk that he ended up making it for $95 million?

Does anybody know where that 95 million figure came from?

Bob Eggleton reported it, I believe. But both the $95 million and the $150 million figures have come from unofficial sources, so we don't really know for certain.

Article from 'Variety':

"Legendary clearly has a franchise in mind with “Godzilla;” Warner Bros., which will distribute the film, also has its consumer products division brokering licensing deals for everything from apparel to toys. Legendary is covering 75% of the budget of the film — expected to cost around $160 million — the way it paid for much of “Pacific Rim’s” $185 million pricetag."

How old is the article though? I remember reading something similar, but depending on the time-frame that was reported a lot could have changed. Also note Vairety's Pacific Rim budget is a little off as well. I imagine exact numbers are hard to come by at this particular stage.

July 15th, 2013 is date given for the article. The issue came out on news stands on the 16th.

Maybe an animated series in mind or possibly a few IDW comic tie-ins.
