Just an aside, Gamera 2 was made with a short production time and much lower budget than the Heisei Godzilla films. Godzilla vs Biollante just took 8 months.

I preferably would like to see a few red-shirt monsters related to a possible big bad. Like perhaps a giant centipede and a rat you can name after a certain unmade rat kaiju as a tribute to fans. For big bad, maybe something like Biollante or another new monster. Hedorah would be good and King Ghidorah but not in the first film.

but is Hedorah a little TOO literal?

I mean, he's a cool monster, even if his film BLOWS, but doesn't the whole message of Hedorah work just as well (if not BETTER) in something like Mothra vs. Godzilla, where you still have hero vs. villain, natural vs. unnatural, beauty vs. beast??
or am I way off base there.

I could just see people going, "Oh yeah, giant ball of oily slime, way to be SUPER LIBERAL GODZILLA! Godzillobama!"

I could see people doing that, I guess...but those people make me sad to be alive. So screw them and bring on the sludge monster. YOU KNOW, FOR FUN

Unfortunately, those kinds of people are the ones who determine whether or not there will be sequels.
And if it's a good movie, Hedorah or not, I want a sequel or fifty.
