Still not convinced it will hit that. World Wide it needs to break $320 million to break even, but I won't rest too easy until it's a fair amount past $400 million. I'd feel safe about the franchise's future if it's just under $500 million.

I feel like people are hedging after PacRim fumbled at the box office. I'll be slightly bold and say $650 million. Right around what Man of Steel/Thor did this year.

I'm a bit saddened by the number of people speculating that Rodan's going to be in the movie. I know it's not happening, but damn, now I actually wish it were.

For some reason, my mind keeps juxtaposing that shot of Godzilla's fins near the island with the party boat music from Gojira. I'd be a little amused if the 1954 flashback were set to it.
