Could be that the public is thirsty for something that is not Superheroes, but delivers on action.

I really hope there will be an extended cut of the film when it comes out on DVD/Bluray. I've notice that there are a few stuff that wasn't in the final showing.

1: The Halo Jump Speech.
2: The male Mutos flying towards Godzilla from the Asia Trailer.

A part of me wants to believe that they were just part of the advertisement campaign but a part of me is also saying that those shots are done too well to not be part of the movie. One part that I'm wondering about is how the Male mutos kind of disappeared for a while and then reappears when Godzilla was pretty much above the female. Could that shot of the Male mutos flying towards Godzilla from the Asia trailer be the reason why he was gone for a while?

I'm starting to become really curious as to what exactly was left on the cutting room floor. We already see snippets of it in the trailers, but I suspect the extended cut could be as much as 20 minutes (!) longer than the theatrical version.

I adore the MUTOs. The fact that the genders were visually different and had different abilities really made the fight more interesting. Also the nuke courting scene was adorable. My one question though is after eating the nuclear cannisters, do they eventually poop them out? That's got to hurt...

^Yeah, as much as I like Strathairn's voice, I'm glad they cut the speech, too. One of the soldiers reading from a prayer book in the background pretty much serves the same purpose, and we still get to spend that time as Ford looks at his family picture. The flow from the shelter doors closing on Godzilla and the Muto to the end of the jump scene is pretty great; I would've hated to have disrupted it.

Oh the irony....

Over at the other site that shall be unnamed they are having a huge debate based on Ryfle's comments on the validity of the use of nukes were on Japan.

Thing is, it's done, lots have been learned from that, right or wrong we can't change it but here's the funny stuff....

A) They are fighting over this situation, that Ryfle is saying has been whitewashed in the new movie...Yeah, like sliding tail drop kicks and Minya were strong nuclear allegories....thought he was a fan of the entire series....

B) They are fighting about an event that has actually caused them to be on a site about a movie monster based on those events....WTF? If there never would have been bombs dropped, there would not be Godzilla, let alone a 60 year series that allows these clowns to get all down and dirty about war and humanitarian issues. Now would the world be a better place without the bombs dropping and Godzilla films? Who knows? Hell we may not have the ability to be free had that not ended the war.

I get it, people died, both innocent and aggressive, and it sucks but without starting THAT debate here, sometimes things simply get too silly for even me to grasp.

Godzilla "Guru" dismisses new movie because it misses the mark (along with over 20 some odd movies) Not like "Yay, Godzilla saved us...whoops, we forgot in 1954 his presence poisoned thousands of people......"

Godzilla "Fans" fight about war because of a movie franchise that they themselves were probably not drawn into by the 1954 original but the kiddie movies that followed.

Thanks Steve you assclown!

LOL just s stupid thought on the end of the trilogy, hate it if you wish, but I can't think of a trilogy that ends this way, especially if it's really successful.....

At the end of the film, however it ends, we go to a production meeting with Thomas, Gareth and the crew and basically have them talking about how each of the movies would go in the trilogy and they, head to a table read where you have Cranston sitting there and they say, "What do you think Bryan?" He responds as only he could "What do I care? I die in the first 30 minutes!!!"

Cranston ends what he began.

Random and strange but I'd actually like some trilogy to end like that.

I love that Ford is introduced to his family the same way, with the door coming down. I mean, things are much worse the second time. Damn. I really can't get a fix on how I feel about this movie within the larger franchise, all I know is I liked it. XD

I hear a lot about the visuals. Apparently Pacific Rim's cartoon video-game aesthetic is somehow more appealing than Godzilla's. I find this argument pretty laughable; Godzilla had some truly amazing cinematography and some really cool ways of framing shots.
