It's a kiddie toy....not sure why you'd expect much detail.

What's up with the feet though?... I mean, you go out of the way to make it a sea creature by adding gills(I guess we don't know if they're actually gills yet), but you give him obious land feet? It's not going to make me hate the design, I love it, but the feet.....

Good point. Shouldn't Godzilla's feet be more wide spread for swimming?

The feet are a sore spot, but it's almost endearing that it joins the pantheon of flaws with other designs: GMK Godzilla's belly, Musuko-Goji's goofy face, 84-Goji's eyes, G2K Godzilla's... pick a card.

The feet are the biggest deviation from the traditional Godzilla design, far more than the gills... yet I really like them. I've tried to think through exactly why I like them and came up with a few reasons:

-They remind me of my favorite kaiju feet, Gamera's in G3.
-The 'trunk' feet, because of elephants and the brachiosaurus in JP (a big moment in movie history for my generation), leads to the feeling of immense weight and power, whereas the elongated T-Rex/GINO feet suggest fleet footed and svelte creatures. Remember how central the feet were in GINO's advertising? Wouldn't be surprised if this was a deliberate getting away from that.
-Since the paleontological science that shaped Godzilla's original design is way out of date, the idea that Godzilla's deliberately doesn't look like an actual dinosaur appeals to me. He's a chimera, with features from different creatures that hasn't occurred in nature. So we have what is ostensibly a bipedal predator dinosaur with an enormous mass, dragging tail, and the feet of a quadruped. That's also why I like the gills.

I still find the whole"gills" thing pretty hilarious.

Soon we'll get to see Godzilla in action and exactly how his feet look in gorgeous CGI. Also whats wrong with Godzilla 2000s design?

G2K wasn't that bad. He still looks like Godzilla...not my favorite but it's alright.

If Edwards's goal is to realistically make Godzilla feel as big as possible then we probably won't even see his feet that much since they will probably be obscured by camera framing/buildings/explosions and other debris.

With at least six months left to go the final stretch for this movie is going a little taxing.
