Yeah, the idea of rallying most any fandom together is a fairy tale at best, the only positive of the division is the idea that the more diverse the appreciation, the better chance the filmmaker has to find the one path inside the franchise that hits the right notes for non-fan appeal.
From all that I have learned so far, is that I don't know if there is another director I would rather want to helm Godzilla. Gareth and Legendary seem he'll bent on making this film transcend "giant monster film" and "summer blockbuster" into the realm of the great movies of all time. Films like Jaws, Star Wars, etc. that are not easily defined like one should expect. When the average joe thinks Godzilla they think sci-fi, monster action film when in reality the first one I would consider more drama than sci-fi or action and that is what I think we will get next year.
Pass the kool aid please.... LOL
