Just curious.... This is a big IF.... But what if LP and WB do add Universal as a distributor to put in Kong. Would you guys want a more KKvsG type of Kong or a big gorilla like in the 05 film? I'd like a more humanoid Kong like from the KKvsG movie honestly.

I don't know if a new G vs. KK would really work. I mean I know Toho had to upsize Kong in order to get him to the right scale of Godzilla, but that Godzilla was less than half the size of this one so the jump wasn't nearly as drastic. The new King Kong would have to be crazy enormous in order to get even close to the right scale. Pretty girls for him to steal and carry away to a tall building would be nothing more but a mere ant in his hand...

I think having a huge Kong would be awesome really. I don't think the idea is totally out there as Legendary Pictures and Universal do make movies together now. Have the 3 come to an agreement, and BOOM... Its the biggest monster flick ever made. I think it would be crazy for them to not at least have some kind of meeting to see if they'd want to do it. I'd still obviously still want some new monsters along with Anguirus and Mothra... Just the idea is awesome. Have Kong and Godzilla battle at first, but they learn they must fight together to kill the bigger threat... Ghidorah? Good lord I have ideas of Kong holding down a kaiju while Godzilla uses his beam. It kills the kaiju and both just roar like crazy at the same time... Man this would be great.

Obviously Kong and Godzilla would equal huge money. They have a Batman v Superman coming out... Why not

King Kong wouldn't necessarily have to be the same height as Godzilla, just plenty big enough. Legendary Godzilla is 350 ft tall, approximately 106 meters, so just a few meters taller than Heisei Godzilla (GvKG & later). Showa Kong was 50 meters, so bringing King Kong up to 75m or 80m could be enough of a size increase.

The biggest hurdle is explaining King Kong in the Legendary Godzilla-verse. The easiest way may be to take a page from Godzilla vs Biollante and bring in some genetic tinkering super-science. I kinda like the idea of a Monarch splinter group but it isn't necessary, a newly created super-science group or even an individual would work equally well. Just like with GvB there could be plenty of people interested in studying any samples of Godzilla or the MUTOs that could be found. And it isn't out of the question for other kaiju remains to have been discovered (and kept secret) over the last 60 years that could also be the basis of the genetic tinkering that creates Kong.

Put the labs of whomever is doing the experimentation on Skull Island keeping it as Kong's home island. As a nod to the original idea of Ebirah, Horror of the Deep King Kong could take out Ebirah (another Skull Island experiment) early in the movie.

And here's another idea, the 1933 King Kong movie exists in this theoretical sequel, so when the giant ape creature appers it's immediately called "King Kong" after the fictional giant ape.

As far as I know, King Kong's rights situation is a gigantic mess with a lot of different parties involved. Not only that, with WB doing the next Godzilla, its doubtful they'd want to pay out the ass to put King Kong in a movie. Especially when we live in a world where Marvel and Fox and Sony can't even settle their differences to make boatloads of cash for any potential crossovers.

Does Universal not have the rights anymore?

Universal doesn't hold 100% of the rights. Kong's rights history is a long, boring story but the short version is that it's a
headache with several parties owning the rights to the character. Also, Turner owns the origin film, the Cooper estate has the puishing rights, and the novelization of the original film is in public domain. Like I said Kong's rights are all over the plAce.

This Kong idea came up only for $$$ purposes and for the General Audience. They would eat it up... Easily would be the highest grossing monster movie ever. Also, I only brought it up since LP does do movies with Universal now. WB and LP don't have to pay for Kong if they add them as distributor and make money from the movie.

If Edwards has his way, what we'll probably see is Godzilla take on another alien invasion of some kind with more monsters. Personally, I think that may be a little too soon. There's only three options: vs. another ancient species of giant, a mutant, or a space monster even though King Ghidorah has been way overused. My choice is #3 which would fit in with a "Destroy All Monsters" concept for "Godzilla 3". My personal preference is Hedorah which would fit in perfectly with a BP oil spill storyline in the Gulf of Mexico. The final battle would take place in Houston, Texas.

On second thought. I'm okay with Kong...BUT
Kong needs to be hundreds of regular sized Kongs that fuse into one SUPER KONG with electricity powers.

King Kong can go climb a tree and stay there. Bring on Gigan, Ghidorah, Mothra, Anguirus, Rodan, Hedorah, and of course brand new monsters!
