Have any details leaked about exactly where in America the film is supposed to take place?

A while back it was stated Hawaii was a filming location as well. Maybe Godzilla makes a pit stop before hitting Japan or the US.

Well... not to dredge up ugly, old memories... but when the first Men In Black premiered in my area back in 1997, they had the teaser for D&E's Godzilla hooked to it, and it brought the house down ...and that was for a movie that wouldn't be out for another whole year. I'd agree with Gooberzilla and suggest that it would be a very good idea to get the seed planted early in the general public's mind and get folks thinking and talking about Godzilla ahead of time.

I would say "Yes!" air it when Pacific Rim is released, but Legendary/WB may be smarter to wait until PacRim is out, in order to gauge critical and, more importantly, audience reaction. If the movie tanks, (which I doubt, and fervently hope it won't), then they won't want it to sour their Godzilla by tying it to PR, especially considering the huge obstacle the '98 film will present to anyone over the age of 10. Hard to judge the best strategy for marketing this film. Don't know that I'd want to be stuck with that task. Too easy to fall flat on one's face, seeing as how a lot of moveigoers will automatically turn their noses up just because it's Godzilla. You know, "that stupid Japanese, guy-in-a-rubber-suit monster who smashes cardboard buildings" and/or "What? a sequel to that crappy Matthew Broderick career-killer?" The promo boys at Legendary & WB certainly have their work cut out for them, that's for sure.

Which makes me wonder... what will the marketing dept at Warner Bros. do to promote the film? ...and what will the tag line be? Silly as it may have seemed, "Size Does Matter" was an ingeniously simple, hard to forget tagline that worked. And sadly, "Get Ready to Crumble" has already been used, too.
