This was brought up in the Pac Rim thread, but I too would like to see, if Godzilla is a known entity from the get go, as if he has appeared and they've been dealing with him for years, the environmental impact of his destruction.
We know from G:KOTM that they showed people that suffered radiation poisoning, and considering the tone and story of "Monsters" I could see some type of semi-apocalyptic view of the world.
Places that battles have taken place, now closed off because of contamination. It's as I would have liked to seen explored by Toho, cities destroyed and barricaded off, uninhabitable places. The only real evidence we saw from Godzilla's rampages was in GvBiollante the building made out of a footprint in the concrete roof. Otherwise as many times as they were destroyed (and I know Tokyo was not the only battleground) evidence should exist. So beyond the big problem of battling an indestructible creature(s) you have places that are off limits for decades at least.
That would most certainly give a realistic feel, to see a ghost city of sorts, blast marks from Godzilla's breath that would most certainly contaminate everything it comes in contact with and perhaps even those that are contaminated themselves banished to these areas. Grim? Perhaps, but realistic? No doubt.
You must show no mercy, nor have any belief whatsoever in how others judge you... for your greatness will silence them all!
