If the casting continues down this road and they sign those mentioned so far along with others that are both interesting, talented and unexpected then something is truly afoot with this movie and it could very well be something special.

I mean if they have a great story that focuses on Godzilla while creating a human element that is captivating while not distracting from Godzilla itself, man oh man....
You must show no mercy, nor have any belief whatsoever in how others judge you... for your greatness will silence them all!

TMNT is now slated for a June 6, 2014 release......so I guess Godzilla is going solo for May 16th.

I am giddy. No other word to describe my feelings for this movie other than giddy.

The casting on this movie is amazing. Also incredibly smart. They are hiring A list talent, but this talent doesn't draw the $20 million per movie like Will Smith and Tom Cruise etc...

More money towards Godzilla, the real star. (I hope anyways)

The quote "Imagine what he can do with $80 million." Is that the number Godzilla is has? I find it kind of odd they would give Pacific Rim $150 million and Godzilla $80 million since Godzilla has brand recognition.

Or the writer was just taking a number from thin air.

Also that actress is far from hot. She looks like a crack head. That's a good thing in my opinion for this movie. =)

It was probably just a projection he used more as an example of an actual budget than the real budget since the budget hasn't been announced anywhere. I imagine Godzilla will be in the 120+ range.

i kind of think that Godzilla wouldn't have "died" but without Legendary, Toho wouldn't have made another film for years and years and years and years...and they still likely won't. I imagine the only way we see a Toho Godzilla movie in the next 15 years is if Legendary's films are successful, and Toho decides to want to try to piggyback off of that. Even then, it seems unlikely to me; why go through the hassle of making a movie when an American studio can do it for you and you still make money?

But, I imagine that 20, maybe 25 years....maybe 35 years from GFW, Toho would have ultimately dusted the character off for another go-round. Godzilla's a timeless, non-actor-specific enough of a character that he'll never DIE completely.

I just thought of something: this is shaping up to be the strongest cast in a Godzilla film since the '60s.
