Kong The Animated Series?

So I saw the Kong Animated Series over at HPB.
This is the one about the kid that can meld with Kong.
So is it any good?
Don't really remember seeing it, though I did see the one where he went around the world (similar to the Godzilla 1998 cartoon).
The volumes were like $4.99 IIRC (it's 20% off weekend).

I remember it being ok, but not great. When it disappeared I didn't miss it.

Was this a licensed show? I never got the feeling it was. I think it was mostly there to cash in on Godzilla: The Series.

It's available on Amazon for pretty cheap. Either 2 separate DVD sets for like $7 each, or a collected set AND one of the two DTV movies for $16.

From the looks of it, this is a very different origin for Kong: a normal ape that's experimented on to become gigantic? It seems Kong befriends the kid main character before he becomes giant, too.
