A CG-animated series called Beware the Batman will debut on Cartoon Network in 2013, joining a DC Nation programming block that includes Young Justice, Green Lantern: The Animated Series and newly announced shorts featuring Plastic Man, Doom Patrol, Batgirl, Supergirl and Wonder Girl.

The news emerged over the weekend in Cannes, France, at the MIP Junior conference — two days of presentations, pitches and workshops focusing on kids’ entertainment — where Sam Register, executive vice president for creative affairs at Warner Bros. Animation, gave the keynote address.

Register revealed that Beware the Batman, executive produced by Glen Murakami (Batman Beyond, Teen Titans), will feature the Dark Knight teamed with a gun-toting Alfred Pennyworth and Katana, the sword-wielding samurai from DC Comics.

“Katana is gonna be his new Robin, but not necessarily,â€

For some reason my dvr decided to drop my CN shows. So I lost this weeks Venture Brothers as well as the first Beware the Batman. Fortunately On Demand had the Batman (still waiting on VB, grrrr!). I really did like this, once I got used to the animation style it worked well. And we already have hints of the larger DC Universe with the introductions of Simon Stagg and Michael Holt, I'm looking forward to more.

I have a lot of problems with this show, but the way they animate Batman, write him, and the distance he has between so many of the people in the show kind of works this to be the first show to really show how sort of unbalanced Batman is psychologically.

The only complaint I have right now is the unceremonious return Beware The Batman had after being on brake for a few weeks!

>_> Hoping Black Lighting shows up...

My biggest complaint is how mundane the city looks. This is clearly a more fantastical Batman world, but the setting doesn't really reflect it. I feel like the gothicy Gotham of the Tim Burton Batman films would really suit this show.

Not really overwhelmed with the series, but I am stickign with it because it is the only show left on CN I can partially support. I wouldn't be surprised if this dosen't go beyond the initial 13 however. Its kind of sad when the thing I like best about this show is Katana.
