I love Jonny Quest, also loved the remake, but nowadays the classic show is the only one that stands the test of time. The sheer amount of detail is amazing.
This is a cool watch if you're into the show

really, the best animated adventure show ever. didn't try to be important, just entertaining, and it succeeded and HOW.
that doc is pretty good, though a little too long and there's some redundancy to it. worth a watch though! and the amazingly well put together bit that got edited out due to time constraints is here-

it rocks. the remakes have been pale imitations compared to the original, and I hope it's never made into a live action adaption.

A live-action movie would really have the potential to be flat-out abso-freakin-lutely amazing, IF it were done in a straight-forward "Raiders of The Lost Ark" style, with a touch of "X-Files" thrown in. Unfortunately, that would almost certainly require a big studio budget to succeed, which would also infer the interference of clueless, retarded studio execs that would suck the heart & soul out of the core concept and uber-dumb it down to a 'Justin Bieber in the CGI Jungle' piece of steaming dung. So yeah, even though I'd love to see it happen (if I could direct & oversee the entire production), I rather hope it never gets ruined with a live-action "revision." My only "thumbs-up" for such a project would be if Guillermo Del Torro was doing it.

Thanks for the links. Enjoyed learning more about the history of the show.
The few episodes I have seen of TNAofJQ just didn't have the magic of the original.

By all means grab the complete original series set that was released a few years back!!! You should be able to snag a decent shape used set pretty cheap on Amazon. The only episode that I know for sure that got snipped was the "Pursuit of The Po-Ho" in which some of Race Bannon's un-PC racial slurs get muted. It's pretty frickin' stupid if you ask me. There is no such group of people who might feel offended, none of the Po-Ho in the episode spoke English and so could not know what Race was saying. Besides, seeing as how the Po-Ho were literally about to roast Dr. Quest and his colleague alive, I think Race's taunts were emotionally-derived and nothing derogatory in and of themselves.
Like the Popeye cartoons of the 30's, 40's and 50's that were released not long ago, this series should have been uncut & intact, with a simple disclaimer stating that the show was a product of the times and that people today are much more understanding now about other's people and cultures and so forth and so on, yada, yada, yada. Unfortunately, some overly nervous censor working for Warner Brothers went a little too far and erred on the side of caution, but please don't let that one miss-step spoil your enjoyment of what is otherwise quite possibly THE BEST animated series that was EVER produced. The majority of the episodes still hold up well even today and make the imitations and all sequels pale in comparison. Even if the legendary Doug Wildey had never done anything else in his entire life, he could be justifiably proud of, (and fondly remembered for), those 26 half-hour episodes of the original Jonny Quest.

Funny thing about that episode where they edited some of Race's dialog is that while the audio is muted, the full dialog is in the subtitles (from what I've read, I haven't had a chance to watch my DVD set yet). Not only that, the episodes run on Boomerang completely unedited; none of DVDs' audio edit[s] nor the scene edits that led to years of butchered action sequences starting in the 70s.
I watched part of the documentary MekaGojira3k posted the link too; it mentions another bit of edited dialog in a different episode. I believe it's "Monster in the Monastery" -- after Jonny causes an armed bad guy to slip on the stairs he dodges the villain while saying "Here comes the Orient Express".
They talk about the DVD edits in part 13:

In another section of the documentary, they mention that WBHV screwed up the closing credits on most of the episodes. From what I've read, WBHV pulled a similar screw-up with their release of the Fleischer Studios (and technically Famous Stuidos after Paramount assumed control) Superman theatrical cartoons.
If there's ever a quality Blu-Ray release of Jonny Quest I hope someone at WBHV makes sure the episodes are fully restored (at least as far as audio and closing credits). {not to mention other screw-ups on other releases}

I checked my DVD years ago and can confirm that the English subtitles do indeed have the removed dialog.

The only live action work I ever saw Mike Road in was a 1960's B-grade clunker sci-fi film called "Destination Inner Space" wherein he and some aquatic scientist types square off against a UFO (underwater floating object) and its alien passenger/pilot that attack thier naval undersea research complex. Pretty lame and forgettable, but for his presence and a kinda cool man-in-suit monster design. I have a grey DVD of it that I bought a few years back from, I believe, Amazon.
Very sad to hear of his death. Another childhood memory gone. (Thanks for passing along this info, David.) Mike Road definately had one of those truly iconic voices: low, gruff and gravely; much in the same vein as the late, great Ted Cassidy. Farewell, Race... RIP and thanks for all the great characters you helped bring to life through your unique voicework to, Mr. Road!

While I do appreciate what they are trying to do here, I really have no interest in comics about any of these. Their strength was being in animated form. In fact I just completed my Jonny Quest DVD collection by getting the 2nd season of the "Real Adventures" just recently offered by WB MOD. Now I have every episode of all 3 iterations of JQ, and the 2 telefilms.

I'm definitely down for Future Quest. Jonny Quest and family team up with Space Ghost, The Herculoids, Frankenstein Jr., and the rest? And it has a killer creative team?
