That's right, the entire 40 episode run of is now available through Netflix's instant streaming service!

Perhaps we're one step closer to a complete DVD release? :D

I love this show, so much. I would buy this in a heartbeat..assuming I had a fast cashier. Justifies GINO's existence, if you ask me. It's also probably why I don't harbor as much hate towards the GINO design as some other fans may.

I just bought it on DVD, and watched the first disc.
It's more fun than the 1998 movie.

As well liked as the animated series is (and was when it aired) it would have been interesting to see Sony follow through with the plans they had for a sequel. At the very least, with the atomic ray being one of the major changes between the movie and cartoon, I'd expect Sony would also ensure the atomic ray would have been prominent in the unmade sequel.

Are there any scripts/notes on what was going to happen if the show didn't get cancelled?

It's a shame that Saturday morning cartoons on broadcast networks are a thing of the past now, with programming blocks like Kids WB and Fox Kids long since dissolved. Sony started an entire animation division in the 1990s to adapt its film properties into animated series, and today the only cartoons made based on movies are longtime animation mainstays like Transformers, Ninja Turtles, and comic book superheroes, and they're all relegated to cable channels. It's pretty surreal to think that in the late 1990s, when a Hollywood Godzilla film was being made, the idea of a Saturday morning cartoon tie-in was such a surefire hit that it was developed concurrently with the film. Now, in the first half of the 2010s, Hollywood has rebooted Godzilla without even an inkling of making an animated series to go with it.

It seems network tv could care less about kids (and kids at heart anymore). Those of us who weren't around in the '60's and '70's missed out on so much with toons and Sid & Marty Kroft shows back then. Man, what memories.

I think it's just a natural side effect of the proliferation of content through cable networks and digital media. Even when I was a kid in the '90s, Fox Kids and Kids WB had syndicated afternoon blocks during the week and I saw cartoons on Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network every day. The reason I got up on Saturday morning was to see the latest episodes of new shows that I liked, because that's when Fox and WB premiered them.

Over the past decade and a half, I think both content providers and new generations of kid viewers just grew out of that consumption/distribution model as they found themselves in a world with different technological resources and options for viewing than in decades past. Studios don't need to stick the newest cartoons on Saturday morning broadcast schedules if kids will tune in to cable networks to watch the same thing on any given weeknight, or if they're going to stream it on a tablet or DVR on their own time anyway.

That's the one thing that's really missing from a world where everything is available on demand all the time: the uniqueness of specialized presentation. As content becomes ever more accessible and immediate, the content providers seem to get more homogenized and similar as they all try to broaden their scope to the widest possible audience. Back in the '90s, Cartoon Network was all cartoons, the Disney Channel was mostly live-action shows, and Nickelodeon was an even mix of the two. Nowadays, all three of them offer kids pretty much the same thing. Likewise, can anybody really see a difference between Discovery Channel, A&E, Travel Channel, Animal Planet, TLC, or History Channel anymore? They used to be specialized networks that stood out from each other. Now they're all built around reality programming.

Re-watching this show.

GAWD. I love it so much. It has its flaws, but for the most part I think it was great. C-Rex is still one of my favorite Godzilla foes.

I have the DVD. I remember the quality of the transfers and everything not being great, but also it was the WHOLE series for like $5.
