New Ultimate Spider-Man animated series

Fox's Spidey 1994 series will always be my favorite, and despite HATING "spectaucular" in the beginning, the stories grew on me towards the end, although i never was a fan of the art. But unfortunately instead of letting Spidey rest, Marvel/Disney wants to cash in on yet another animated series:

I can't say I'm surprised. Simply the fact that the makers of "Spectacular" stated they were going to wait until they saw the results of DVD sales before making a season 3 was total garbage IMHO. TV series which were resurrected soleley based on DVD sales (Family Guy & Futurama) are very rare, and I dont think would ever happen with a kids show since you have at least a 2 year gap because of the "wait and see" attitude, meanwhile your target audiance is going on to other shows, or outgrowing cartoons altogether. The show got interesting toward the end, but could never live up to the FOX 90's series. Still I think Marvel/Disney needs to give Spider-Man a reprieve from animation for about 10 years or so. Just making another toon to sell more toys, while it may be profitable, dosen't make for quality TV, but I guess nobody cares anymore. Case in Point- Transformers- while one of my favorite genres, the contstant change of animated series every 2 years has made it quite unenjoyable for me.

Instantly not as likeable as Spectacular, BUT I'd put this probably 2nd as far as Spider-Man adaptations go. The Chibi style cuts work as far as I'm concerned. It's more or less just okay. It's interesting that they're making the world more open (What with the Frightful Four and Nick Fury's involvement), but again...I would have just preferred more Spectacular Spider-Man.

Not a bad first ep at all.

Ultimate Spider-Man is a decent show for what it is, which seems to be a Marvel version of the late Teen Titans series. I don't think US-M has quite found it's own sweet spot of blended action and humor yet but it seem pretty close.

It is nice to see other characters in the Marvel Universe (beyond Spider-Man and the X-Men) getting a regular spot in a show.

To be honest, I'd like to see the Disney XD Marvel block extened by another hour and run some of the older Marvel cartoons -- run one of the 70s & 80s shows for a 30 minutes and one of the more recent ended shows for the other. For example, Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends followed by Fantastic Four: World's Greatest heroes -- the second hour could even rotate shows from week to week (Spider Woman, Incredible Hulk, etc. then one of the 90s or 00s cartoons)

Same goes for DC Nation on Cartoon Network -- there are plenty of DC cartoons that could be re-aired in second hour.

I guess it's decent for what it is...but...to me a Spider-man show should be a Spider-man show not a Teen Titans esque thing.

Indeed, it would be nice to have a more regular Spider-Man series on the air. It's too bad the powers that be won't let both a regular Spider-Man series and a show like U S-M on the air at the same time -- I expect both types of shows could draw in more than enough viewers.

I suppose I'm giving U S-M a bit of leeway due to it using Marvel characters that aren't often animated. I suppose the same thing could have been accomplished with a team-up show, but doing one this soon after Batman:The Brave and The Bold would appear awfully "me too"-ish.

I watched episodes 3 and 4. See, I like this humor, but I hate the lineup of characters. I tried to even talk myself into appreciating it. This is Marvel's answer to Teen Titans and Young Justice, and by god it falls short of both those shows by a lot. None of these characters are interesting. Nova would seem like he would be, but this teen version is annoying as hell.

I'm also not in the least bit fond of the designs on the show. I may be fine with the team when they're int costume, but they don't look great as civilians. This may honestly be the worst Spider-Man show I've ever watched.

Okay, well 2nd worst, Spider-Man unlimited still exists.

I'm caught up. And the Harry as Venom thing is kind of working for me. I just wonder when the Goblin is going to show up (Probably as a season finale thing?). The Doc Ock episode....was terrible. Their design for Whirlwind was lame, and....jesus. Doc Ock is one of my favorite comic book villains. He'd be lower, but he'd be in my top ten I'm sure...and this show's Doc Ock is TERRIBLE. Design wise, the way he acts. It's...blech.

The humor of the show still works for me 75% of the time.
