When I was a kid, the only episodes of Transformers I had were on a VHS that edited together the Desertion of the Dinobots two-parter. I finally got around to picking up the season 2 DVD set that includes that story, and I'd forgotten how bonkers this show was. Spike's brain gets swapped into a hulking robotic Frankenstein monster because apparently it's easier to perform an operation on someone if their mind is in another body. The autobots drive from America to Africa. Whole reams of autobots are roll-called at once so kids know what to ask their parents to buy. And, of course, any scene with Grimlock is pure gold. "Me Grimlock demonstrate finesse... whatever that is." It's glorious.

Frustrating when adults with little to zero perspective do a review for a film they have little to no attachment to. yeah you can boil it all down and say it is am 80 minute toy commercial. But you can also say it is a marvel in excellence in animation, a bold story that wasn't afraid to kill of its heroes, and build up new ones, with an amazing voice cast, and amazing musical score (and I'm not talking about all the 80's rock tunes, however those are great too) .

Of course TF:TM is the best Transformers movie to date, because it's the only theatrical one dedicated to THE TRANSFORMERS. There was also a direct to home media film about 5 years ago, which was basically just an addendum to the Prime series called "Predacons Rising" which is also really great, but if you haven't seen the Prime TV series it will make little sense.
