I wonder who directed this episode, as the animation felt different in a cool but not too radical way (as in the divisive Glitch episode).

Maybe it isn't someone new, but rather me paying a lot of attention to the differences that individual animators bring to their episodes. I've been doing that since the more radical Glitch episode and after reading a bunch of people online saying they can immediately tell who's doing an episode when they see the animation - a skill I envy very much.

I'm often envious of the observation skills of others.

Ah, Pen Ward himself co-storyboarded this one, explaining why everything was just a bit weirder than usual in the way things are drawn.

I love whoever chooses the re-run that comes after the new episodes. They always seem to share interesting thematic links.

I think my favorite part was when BMO interrupted Finn's explanation with "I don't care"

I also find it hilarious that typically BMO hangs out with animals and the like, but apparently has genuine sentient friends.
