I plan on watching the series, and from the commercials it seems that the team working on the show has done a pretty good job of capturing the aesthetic of the TRON computer world.

However, the people seem to have a weird physical structure to them which is odd to watch.

I DVRed "Becks Beginning" and am watching it now. The show does a fantastic job of bringing the Grid (the computer world) to life. The show's team certainly deserves applause for that. The elongated look for the programs/humans is still strange to look at, but not something that I'll let stop me from enjoying the story.

Loved seeing the enforcer design from TRON used in the show, it's a really nice touch

Tron's state doesn't really jibe with what we learn in Tron Legacy, but it seems to makes sense for the show's story; plus it's a detail that can easily be ignored by a future movies.

Even with this first episode it is apparent that the show's team wants to capitalize on the great potential of Tron's computer world. I think we'll have lots of "wow look at that" moments in the episodes to come -- not just big things but smaller things too like the tool Beck uses in his job as a mechanic.

Actually I think Tron's state works because he is slowly becoming Rinzler. I thought the first episode was quite enjoyable and I loved that they are using the movie's score in the show. Plus, trains are awesome. My only complaint is we know Beck's rebellion is going to fail otherwise Legacy would never have happened.

I still haven't bothered to give this thing a watch, just because the style didn't jive with me. How decent is this? On a scale of 1 to 10?

That first "episode" where Beck first masquerades as Tron was originally mutliple installments of a micro-series which it is so packed with action.

The first regular episode will be this Thurday at 9pm Eastern, it's entitled "The Renegade" and is listed as part 1 in the on screen guide.

From THR:

As the animated series reaches its apex, Disney XD is teasing out some of the electronic beats that keep Beck and company charged up.
[quote="Jordan Zakarin "]
Here's an early Christmas gift from The Grid.

With Tron: Uprising, the 2D animated series that bridges the gap between the cult classic original Tron movie and the 2010 follow up, heading toward the end of its first season run, Disney XD is making moves toward releasing its EDM-centric soundtrack. Composed by Joseph Trapanese -- who arranged Daft Punk's hit soundtrack for Tron: Legacy -- the Uprising score extends the computerized audio adventure even further, stretching over 18 episodes.

The show stars Elijah Wood as the voice of Beck, a rebel leader fighting against Clu within the computer mainframe world of oppression. Code named Renegade, he is the apprentice of Tron (Bruce Boxleitner) and coworker of Mara (Mandy Moore) and Zed (Nate Corddry). The show chronicles the battle for freedom that was waged before Garrett Hedlund joined Jeff Bridges in Legacy. The Hollywood Reporter is premiering the track "Goodbye Renegade."

A second sequel for the film franchise was recently announced.

"With animation, we’re not hindered by the limitations of visual effects and real world stunts. The scope can be much bigger," Trapanese said of working on the cartoon. "Through the two years of collaboration with Daft Punk, we found a balance of electronics and orchestra that worked very well for The Grid, and I've tried to build on that. The remixes for the show are from artists whom I have a great respect for and Cole’s track is added on as his unique, artistic reaction to what we’ve been doing.â€

Edward Kitsis talks about the struggling show, saying its fate has not been decided.

[quote="Eric Goldman"]Edward Kitsis was at the TCA (Television Critics Association) press tour to promote his hit series -- with his partner Adam Horowitz -- Once Upon a Time this week. But when I spoke to him, I also asked about the status of Tron: Uprising, the animated series he and Horowitz are producers on.

Kitsis was very excited to talk about Tron: Uprising, exclaiming, “It’s so good!â€
