Huh, they're listening another theater across town from me, but there's no showtimes or preorders, and Funi isn't listing the theater I actually bought a ticket for the other day.

I really prefer this newly listed theater, though. I'll definitely try to make my second viewing there.

Yeah a theater "closer" to me popped up but when I go to buy tickets however that theater doesn't have the movie listed.

I'll keep watching and hoping they hit NH up. I'm really a klutz when it comes to city driving and would rather avoid it.

So far as I can tell, there are zero Canadian dates. None listed by either Funimation or Cineplex (one of our big theater chains). Realistically, I expect them to appear/be announced later, but it's frustrating.

Greetings All...

So I know this is limited...but does anyone think showings are going to sell out? Especially in the not-so-large markets? I am just not a big fan of pre-ordering things, even for something I anticipate as much as this. I mean even for the Rifftrax event a few weeks back, for the encore showing I just walked up an purchased my ticket before show time, theater was about 1/2 full when the show started. Other than that...the only limited run shows I've seen were close to 20 years ago...and internet pre-sales didn't exist. In fact. I can pretty safely say any film I pre-ordered tickets on fandango for...out of fear it may be sold out (such as a large blockbuster opening day) was unnecessary.

I don't want to offend any fellow Sacramentans that might be on this forum (doubtful as that is...) but It is now in at least 3 or 4 theaters all close by. I know its only one showing per day, for 3-4 days but I just cant see that many people here going to see it...If I were in the SF Bay Area, or Los Angeles...sure...but of the 400 or so theaters that have this...any that are not in the top 10 markets in the nation (Sacramento ranges between 15 & 20)...I'm not sure if there is such an urgent need. I'd love to be wrong...but I guess we'll see.

**just looked at Fandango...between the 11th & 18th there are 4 theaters having 1 showing per day (sans Friday the 14th and Sunday the 16th), and some days only have 1 or 2 theaters...but anyway...that equates to at least 25 or so opportunities to see this film in that 8 day period. Factor in conservatively at least 100 seats per screen (most are probably 150 even on the smallest) ...so that is banking on 2500-3000 people in "The Valley" wanting to see this film (I cant imagine too much repeat business)...for some reason I don't think I will need to purchase ahead of time...but if I do see any in the area sell out...especially on the day I want to go...then I might reconsider

Also...Screen Junkies just released their fall films preview video...they brought up some pretty obscure films at the end...Godzilla wasn't even mentioned.

I absolutely love Funimation's official US trailer for Shin Godzilla. I really liked the somber Japanese trailers, with the long takes and choral music... but this one, with the emphasis on the scale of the disaster and the large cast and the classic Ifukube track? It totally feels like a Golden Age Toho film.

Can't wait but one of my friends who has seen it told me to go in expecting an Anno movie over a classic Godzilla one. She said if you do it that way, you will love it. If you go in wanting a classic Godzilla film, it will be a disappointment. She's also the only one in the office that did not enjoy it because she wanted a classic Godzilla film.

I'm worried about it selling out. The theater that I want to go to has already sold all the best seats on opening night. But it sounds like maybe the theaters around you don't do assigned seating, which to me is a double edged sword. In this case I doubt all the seats will sell, but I don't want to get stuck in the corner on the front row...

Well I got tickets for the 16th on a Sunday at Noon. It isn't in the most dense part of the city so hopefully I don't freak out with hundreds of Bostonian's honking their horns at me and referring to me has a "Cawk Sucka get out of the way ya son of "OH GODZILLA! WHAT TERRIBLE LANGUAGE!"."

If you can't find your city in funimation's search, check your local theater chain site. Funimation shows the closest theater is in Kalamazoo but .

In case I'm not the only one here interested in Canadian dates:

In the comments on Facebook about Shin Godzilla's advance ticket sales, Funimation wrote, "We will be updating with Canadian theaters once we have the final list. Stay tuned!" At least one Reddit user and learned that no screenings have been planned yet. Given that other Funimation-distributed films have made it here, I'm not pessimistic yet. It just seems things haven't been finalized, which is still frustrating, but not a disaster. Give it another couple weeks, I suppose.

Is it just me, or does it seem like the vast majority of theaters showing this are only showing it on the 11, 12, and 13 with one show a day at 7:30pm (or sometimes 7pm)?

I've been looking at theaters all over the country b/c I might be traveling for work and very few I've found (mostly Alamos) have anything outside those dates or times. I wonder if more times will be announced later? Seems rather unlikely.

^The Fandango listings for my two theaters initially showed only 11 - 13, and then showed all the way through the 18th but with no listed showtimes on those other days. Now they've started listing the showtimes for the 15th and 18th.
