First reported by member: MAC: "Legendary Pictures Offers PACIFIC RIM (aka the GODZILLA Reboot) to Guillermo del Toro"

Rumor is that Legendary offered "Pacific Rim" (AKA Godzilla 2012) to Guillermo del Toro. Read here in Latino Review:

http://www.latinoreview.com/

Reporting is repeated here:

http://www.collider.com/2010/10/13/godz ... cific-rim/

The reference to integrating "Pacific Rim" with Godzilla is intriguing.

Bein talked about in the other LP threads, so this is kinda unnecessary... this one can probably be merged or locked or whatever.

Jelly: Question. I've been on this site for more than 10 years, but I can't remember seeing information of this nature blended in with posts 250 or 1,000 deep before.

Fine, it gets merged, locked, killed, but it seemed weird to me that to get info about, for example, Brian Rogers' producing and his interview, I had to read deep into threads that had gone so far astray with conjecture and fighting that members were joking about the original purpose. Stale.

So be it. I don't see the purpose of threads if you're moving to categorical participation rather than permitting and managing new posts as intriguing rumors or news develops. Which means if you want to focus on this news about Rogers or del Torro -- not happening -- you'll need to sift through hundreds of threads and endless griping about who owns whose script, whether Godzilla should appear alone, ad nauseum instead.

By this new standard, you guys could just establish reading categories and dole out to us us minions stale breadline categories.

"Mac" should have started a new post, not bury his news 255 posts deep, in my opinion. I think this is an incrementally significant rumor, if not news, worthy of a new thread. I certainly thought Brian Rogers' producing was worthy of a new thread. It would have been in the past -- we might have learned quite a bit about Rogers' and Banno's association here from the more learned members. But, we won't, Rogers and the details of his interview are an afterthought in a thread reduced to bickering.

No. This thread should not go away at the whim of an arrogant mouth who danes to determine what the lesser of us may not have known but had the temerity to exercise their posting privilege to ask.

This thread should go away after it has enjoyed a proper shelf life and has been vetted by the other members who should be granted their right to participate in the merits or lack thereof of this topic and allow it to develop or die a natural death as the case may be.

In deference to the distinguished resume so cleverly posted in your signature block, "口," apologies to you, 先輩.

But thanks to Mr. Negativity for the follow-up.

The article has been updated again, with a denial that Pacific Rim is being turned into a Godzilla movie.

The bad news: the guy who wrote Doom and The Expendables is working on Godzilla.

Ugh, that news HURTS. :(

My two cents on the drama: I agree with Sanchan that new threads like this are a good way for people who DON'T read the crapfests in the other, more generalized, threads to hear the news and discuss it specifically. I DO NOT agree with him bickering about the thread being irrelevant after the rumor has been completely and utterly debunked. This thread is irrelevant and misleading and SHOULD be locked.

In all fairness, this is where I first found out about this. I haven't really been checking the other threads that much as it just seemed liked everyone was popping jokes and there was nothing really important being discussed but this caught my attention immediately.
