Legendary Pictures' GODZILLA - Anticipation Anxiety

I was going to make this a response in another related thread, but then, I figure this discussion deserves a post all its own.
What do we think of when we hear about a Godzilla film being made?
When it's from Toho in Japan, we're so used to the film being done in less than a year, hankering for immediate news and info.
But in America, movies usually take two years to get done. We've only heard the news early this year, and they don't just jump into production right away when the news is announced. Production is in its infancy phase. We'll hear news before we know it, but that may take a while.
But the point is, some fans have what's called "anticipation anxiety." They can hardly wait for more info on the movie (in hopes that it will either finally be faithful to the original Godzilla, or become another GINO to vilify), and in some cases, it might get out of hand, to the point where some people play pranks on everyone by posting false rumors and images. Of course, nothing can stop that, but that's a great example of anticipation anxiety.
I sort of created this post to discuss those feelings about the new Godzilla movie, how excited you are, what's got you all worked up about it, what kind of fears you have, and how you feel having to wait a long 2 years for the film to get produced (as opposed to less than a year).
So, how do you feel about it?

I hope they got all the fanboy homages out of them with Godzilla Final Wars and are finally going to make a good serious movie, that will possibly be respected. I know alot of you don't care if godzilla is respected in america or not, but I care, cause the more godzilla films the better

I'm worried they still won't get it right. I hope they do but I'm seriously keeping my expectations in check this time around.
GINO did alot of damage to the Godzilla character and it'll take alot of work for Hollywood to "right the wrong".
We don't need big "name" actors in Godzilla. GODZILLA is the star of the film. We don't need a "hot, young group of teens" ie "Twilight" starring in the movie. We don't need stupid jokes, Godzilla laying eggs, running from the military, wind breath, or a design that looks nothing like Godzilla.
You'd think that the character would be a relatively simple one for Hollywood to "get right" but they've failed miserably so far.
So yeah, the anxiety is there.

Among my concerns are the design: what is this (hopefully) well-made, to be taken seriously Godzilla going to look like. To be honest, the photo that appeared few days ago did not appeal to me. It was a bit too angular. I do not want this film to be a "vehicle" for stars now in vogue. Godzilla cannot be a mere plot device/complication.
That being said, I have a good feeling about this film. The comments by the people at Legendary and others have helped. We could be on the brink of something thrilling: a Godzilla film that looks real, while being true to both the character and the genre.

lol. This thread sounds like some weird Godzilla 2012 support group. I'm cool with that.
I have to admit I look at slashfilm everyday anticipating more news. It kinda stinks having to wait so looong. My fear is that by the time it gets released two years from now I'll be too "fan-crazed" in anticipation that I won't be able to see the movie for what it really is, I'll have the fan blinders on. Right now I'm just hoping for a decent director to be announced soon.

Right now, the design is the number 1 thing on my mind.

Legendary did a pretty good job with Where The Wild Things Are, I think they'll get Godzilla right.

I honestly can't wait for this film. I still like the 1998 Godzilla film, but there are a couple gripes I have on it that it could have been better. I know I've heard some out there that people would want a rubber suit Godzilla for this film; but in reality, though, this is Hollywood we're dealing with here. They're going to have a CGI Godzilla and possibly an animatronic version for close-up shots only. With CGI technology that's significantly improved since the 1998 film, Godzilla will look more realistic, and with WB and Legendary Pictures behind it, I fully trust them on what they'll accomplish.
I'm also glad that Warner Brothers and Legendary Pictures are taking on this project. After what they've done with the Nolan Batman series, Clash of the Titans, etc., they'll do a terrific job on this film.

i just hope they don't turn out another stooped over t Rex looking Godzilla. I've seen the bust that people have said was considered a the next Godzilla & didn't like it. it looks to much like a dragon. good looking monster, just not Godzilla.

i also have to say I'm not crazy about Stan Winston's godzilla either.

it might be better if it was darker & it's legs were bigger & tail longer. a little more like the GMK demon of a Godzilla. i'll be happy if they just do as good of job as the little cameo in always 2. i seen it for the first time last week & it thought it looked pretty good.
all in all, if they screw this up, i think it will be the last attempt of an American Godzilla for years to come.
by the way, whatever came to be with the Godzilla 3d movie? i haven't heard anymore about it.

I almost had a nervous breakdown about this movie today. True story. I was driving to work when suddenly all these questions jumped into my head. Will Godzilla be 80 meters or 100? Will his flame be blue? Will they use Ifukube's music? Will there be symbolism? What of Bagan? And what about Scarecrows brain? The faces of those I've wronged floated up at me and I swear I lost control of my car for a brief second and almost hit a guard rail. Fear and anxiety about this impending masterpiece almost took my life. I will never let that happen again. From now on I will only think about this movie on the third Friday of every month, and only months with an R in them. That way I think I'll be safe.
LP Godzilla-related anxiety has the potential to kill, folks. Don't be a statistic.
