Playing devil's advocate...you have your dark/serious Godzilla proponents, and you have those that don't necessarily want cheezy, but more light Godzilla sort of in the vein of the Showa series.....

I give you this, the most bloody and graphic damage done to Godzilla occurred in the Showa series.

Think about this, there were moments in the Heisei and Millennium series where Godzilla gets injured, but nothing too graphic. Aside from Ghidorah losing his head and some inferred death in GMK, there was not much graphic scenes (not a bad or good thing, just observing)

Now in the Showa series, you have Godzilla getting his head busted open in Gigan, you have Ghidorah getting his neck stomped, Anguirus gets his jaw ripped open in Godzilla Vs. Mechagodzilla, as well as the missiles sticking out of his flesh along with arterial spray. Hedorah scalded his eye, he even ripped off one of Ebriah's claws...

So there you have it....the lighter, more kid oriented series was also the bloodiest and most graphic.
