Will Toho learn their lesson next time and give more time?

I hope they get it through their skulls that a higher quality Godzilla movie could be a big success for them world-wide. Movies like Pan's Labyrinth, The Host, and Let the Right One In have shown that there is a market for foreign genre fair.

I don't think time has anything to do with it because Toho has always worked that way. Tight schedules and miniscule budgets are their specialty. If a lack of time is the case, all Godzilla films would be below expectations. Throwing money around isn't the answer either. Key word here is talent and it doesn't always take time or money to get it.

They don't need three years to make the movie if they do it right, but another six months would do wonders to the production values if in the right hands. I believe the 90s Gamera films had about a year and a half each, give or take.

#1) Talent starts with the script. #2) Staff and crew must work applying fresh ideas to old (proven) techniques #3) Planning/scheduling must be error free scrapping anything experimental. All that equals a good Toho monster movie.
