How about a monster that can learn from every fight it has and can change shape to fight Godzilla.

That's kind of like Hedorah & Destroyah, but coming up with a new monster is almost impossible now.

For example, Megaguiras, while a cool monster, was basically a rip off of Battra, and Monster X turned to be a reincarnation of King Ghidorah.

That is why I think they should really wait a while before bringing the series back. When they do, Godzilla is going to have to tangle with new opponents. Mechagodzilla, Mothra, & Ghidorah are all great, and it was really cool to see Gigan, Rodan, Angurias, and various others all brought back for Final Wars, but Godzilla really does need some new foes. And if they do bring anyone back, I think they should dive into the Hesei roster fo rthat. Destroyah, Spacegodzilla, Biollante, & Battra are all great monsters in their own right and deserve an upgrade.

I meant like one time it would look like a lobster next time it would look like a dragon and it would keep changing in till it completes what it needs to do.

I want to see Godzilla fight a geodesic dome with strobe lights.

I wonder how it would work if they brought in some of the Kaju from Ultraman or even Gamera. I always thought Jiger would have been an interesting opponent for Godzilla even Viras maybe, of course they would have to jack them up a bit. But even some of the monsters from Ultraman would be cool. It just seems like when Japan does do a new Kaju to face Godzilla it isnt accepted or given a fair chance Orga comes to mind its almost as if Toho has no choice but to use a known Kaju or the fans will revolt and pan the movie. I would love to see a new Kaju personally or one of the older ones that have hardly been used in the series like Hedora or another one with just Gigan.

Well I really doubt Godzilla taking on an Ultra Kaiju and I reeeeaaallly doubt him taking on some of Gamera's baddies. Although the Godzilla vs. Ultra Kaiju thing would be an interesting idea for an Ultraman/Godzilla tv special. I don't think Toho is afraid the fans will revolt I think it's just about the characters. It's kind of the same reason Venom got put in Spider-Man 3. Admittedly there should never be a new character in that franchise, but Venom is just one of the major villains. Green Goblin, Doc Ock, Venom is the equivalent of King Ghidorah, Mothra, MechaGodzilla. These are the kaiju that, aside from the big G bring people to the seats. I believe they should attempt to create atleast 4 or 5 new kaiju if the series ever is revived. We can't rely on the past forever.

Japanese and American moviegoers who aren't fans of the series to begin with don't care about Godzilla, plain and simple, so having Mothra, Mechagodzilla or King Ghidorah shoehorned into the mix isn't going to make a difference in terms of box office revenue. Whenever Toho bring Godzilla back, they might as well let the filmmakers get creative with some new kaiju ideas or even bring back lesser-used monsters from past films. That would at least have a chance of bringing the series more success than what's been tried and failed already.

Yeah, it'd be cool if Godzilla fought some new creatures, but the problem is, pretty much everything that Toho has come up with since 1999 has sucked. Orga would have been great if his big-ass arms weren't so obviously made of rubber. Megaguirus could have been cool if he wasnt so reminiscent of Battra. And Monster X/Kaizer Ghidorah was truly pathetic. Unless Toho gets some, I don't know, really creative people working for them, I'll be perfectly happy seeing King Ghidorah, Mothra, Mechagodzilla, etc. for the millionth time. The truth of the matter is, the guys that made these movies in the first place were truly talented, while the ones doing it now are not.

Perhaps the title of this thread should be "Godzilla: The Next Error." :D

Haha! Yeah, I think so. Because, the way I see it anyway, the only reason we love Godzilla is because of those who made him. Tomoyuki Tanaka was there when Godzilla vs. Destroyah was made, which is why the death scene was so poignant. I don't mean to be completely irrational (ALTHOUGH I AM BEING VERY SUBJECTIVE), but the only reason that Godzilla is so iconic is because of the men that made him. Tomiyama is a great fan, and loves the franchise so much, and I respect him for that...

But Godzilla is not the King of the Monsters without the guys that brought him to life.

So he might as well be dead.

I always felt the Millennium Series put fun back into Godzilla.

The Heisei movies are enjoyable on first viewing, but they don't wear well for subsequent viewings.
