I think the alien invasion aspect is a classic, especially when dealing with an all out monster romp. So Id definitely go with that, and tho it made for a couple fun scenes in Final Wars, I would omit any direct conflict with the alien ships. Id leave all the fighting to the monsters. Here is my line up for the monsters:

Earth-
Godzilla
Kiryu
Biollante
Anguirus
Rodan
Varan
Baragon

Aliens-
Space Godzilla
King Ghidorah
Destroyah
Battra
Hedorah

Now for a little explaination. I have Biollante on the side of earth because while she did fight Godzilla, she wasnt a villan, more like a protector. I also added Kiryu as earths only meaningful contribution to the fight for its survival. I gave the 'good guys' one more monster than the invaders because, for the most part, any one of the invaders can take on two of the lesser monsters on the heros side and be evenly matched. I also have Space Godzilla heading the aliens side because it just seemed right the have Godzilla leading both sides, one home grown and his dark clone.

I really wouldnt mind seeing another DAM with alot of never before seen kaiju, but if I had to stick with pre-established monsters, this would definitely be my choice.

Well I kind of think DAM was remade in 2004 titled Godzilla Final Wars. However if you really wanted just 11 kaiju I would pick

1 Godzilla
2 Rodan
3 Godzilla JR
4 Titanosarus
5 Angilas
6 Sanda
7 KaiserGhidora
8 Manda
9 Gezora
10 Battra
11 Varan

I decided not to pick Mothra or any type of giant robot or other enemy kaiju like destroyer SpaceGodzilla Orga or King Ghidora etc. Because in the original DAM movie there was only one main enemy kaiju which was King Ghidora.

With Final Wars, I was hoping to get a "good monsters vs. bad monsters" scenario (I first thought this upon seeing the picture of Hedorah and Ebirah together, and I remember reports that Gigan and King Seesar were going to have a fight). Oh well. My idea of that scenario:

Good Monsters:
Godzilla
Anguirus
Rodan
Kiryu
Jet Jaguar (him and Kiryu, 'dey's a team!)
King Seesar
Mothra
Baragon
Titanosaurus

Bad Monsters:
Gigan
King Ghidorah
Gabara (yes!)

Yah, so I've got the bad guys a little bit outnumbered, but I honestly can't think of many "bad monsters" I'd want to include other than these guys. Plus, they could simply be so dang powerful that it takes nine Earth monsters to fight them. As for Gabara, well, that's kind of a curve ball, but why not have him be the result of some sort of alien experiement involving the extraction of dreams! (Gasp!)

Anyway, that's my idea of a good roster, though I was satisfied with the creatures in both DAM and Final Wars (except in the latter, where I wanted to see more of them). My ultimate idea of a DAM-type movie would have most if not all the kaiju on screen at once, which DAM pretty much did but Final Wars didn't (and I was hoping it would).
